So Ive owned 6 VW's and I thought the Mk7 R was probably the least exciting. The factory clutch on the manual transmission was garbage, started slipping at 12k miles and VW told me to pound sand on it. Fit and finish the car is nice and VW always does nice interiors but they hold back so much on the drive train. I had the mk4 R32 the OG R and I would take another one of those any day of the week and its quite a bit slower, the mk4 felt more like a halo car for them and the mk7 just seemed like an awd version of the gti with a more power but not enough.

Agreed! My favorite to drive is still the ‘83 GTI. (230K on the clutch and still no slipping racing autocross every other weekend)

I told myself that i wasn't doing anything to this truck until it was paid for. Maybe wheels don't count.

I too went from VW to Toyota. Used the money VW gave me to buy back my Jetta TDI to buy my Tacoma.
