A muffler is a muffler. All that changes is the inlet/outlet diameter

 

But are the mounting points the same from 2nd gen to 3rd?

 

Just a reroute to tuck up the exhaust pipes out of the way. I'm thinking of just going with a catback system. I've found a Gibson for around $300. I could go to a muffler shop and just get them to weld a muffler on, but I'm guessing it will be around the same price as just getting a cat back.

 

There are no mounting points for a muffler. It’s welded or clamped into the pipe.

Unless you are talking about a full cat-back exhaust system. In which case I’m not sure, but it would be real easy to tack up a few exhaust hangers

 

Yes what I have is a full cat back.

 

I have Borla Pro XS on my 4Runner and its got a little bit of drone to it but nothing overwhelming. Idle is about as quiet as stock. Only time i really hear it is if im getting on it or climbing a big hill. Cruising drone is just loud enough to put my little girl to sleep in the back.

You're right. Once they do the reroute, it might put that flange in a different location, which would throw off any catback system designed for the Tacoma. I may just do the y-pipe reroute and just get them to weld on a muffler for me.

super boring to watch on TV. I loved playing baseball, and being at games is a good time, but TV baseball blows

 

It’s a crap shoot on the mounting points being the same. Also don’t know if the length from where it bolts to the cats to the back of the truck is the same.
