It's the regular one. I wanted the XL, but the standard was $600 out the door, and the XL was $975.

My son just turned one, so there's plenty of room for the three of us in there for at least the next few years.

There was a deal on Amazon the other day and the XL was up for $710 with free shipping. Almost bought but I think it would be too big for what I need

I need to fab up some kind of quick release system for the tent. It's kind of a pain in the arse to remove and I don't want to just leave it on the truck all the time when I'm only going to use it periodically.

I have a 2.5 year old and thought she would be more aware of heights but she don't care that the tent is 6ft off the ground. Sticking out the windows and doors like she got a safety net lol.
Any how scares me just to thing what would happen if she was to fall from that height. Maybe when she gets older ill pick up another one. Don't want to store this a few years in my garage.
I do have to say I'm impressed by how well this tent is made. All the small issues people have had in the pass Smittybilt seems to have took into account and made improvements over the years.
Here are a few things I've seen people complain about that has been fixed:
Side straps used only had velcro to hold it in place, now it has a double hoop that you can use for more secure hold.
The hooks that hold up the rain cover have a rubber sleeve over the looped area so not toscratch or rip the tent.
The hook bag is reinforced at the bottom as people in the past have ripped them with the metal hooks
Bolts and plates that hold the tent are bulker
The cover is heavy duty material
The front of the tent where the main entrance is would have material stretch and rip over time, now it has more material and door opens easy without having to stretch the tent back as the older model used to be.
I would say this tent you get way more then what you pay for.

I've been considering a 14' tall carport in front of my garage with a lift under it...

I agree. I'm really impressed with the materials and build quality of this tent, especially considering I got it for $600 brand new in box.
