My one buddy just hit the jackpot, my neighbor left a pile of wood for him to scrounge through, There's a big pile of pieces and piles of uncut smaller logs that he said my buddy could have if he wants them, he will be happy! Asked the neighbor to hit the hump in the driveway with the blade on the mini excavator on his way out, nothing fancy just cut it down a bit, he did that and now if I ever need it plowed it will be easier to plow.
Put out 2 mineral blocks for the deer today, hopefully they will come in to them.

Lynn and I took a long weekend trip to meet my sister and her husband on The Bourbon Trail in KY. Took tours at Heaven Hill, Lux Row, Maker's Mark, Willett and Jim Beam. Stayed in a great B&B in Loretto, found some great restaurants and spent time at the local bar - Cozy Corner. We also found a fantastic place in Bardstown -the Blind Pig Bourbon Speakeasy. Here's what we brought home...

Finishing the hatchet tomorrow in blacksmithing class. Rough handle done, too.
    Small Kentucky belt axe.

The ash was from a down tree a neighbor let us have. I split, band saw, hatchet, and sanding belt to get shape so far. Got shape from a slightly longer Wetterlings.

Looks like Maker's Mark was most popular. Took a tour there with the Corvette Club a few years ago.

+1. There are eight bottles - one is hidden behind the 46 bottle.

Maker's 46 is always my "go to" bourbon and their Private Select is a variation off the regular. The Knob Creek is also great - distilled by Jim Beam in small batches. On the tour, you can bottle your own and have it etched as we did. It is the highest proof bourbon we got at 120 proof.

    Morning all:
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just read an article where the PA turnpike is 11.8 BILLION dollars in debt. How on earth did anyone allow them to accumulate that much debt, someone is going to get screwed.
I know they were talking about selling it to foreign investors not too long ago, I can't see it being sold with that much debt.
Thinking about what may be in store, declare bankruptcy and business as usual, or have the state take it over and make it part of the interstate system, then add tolls to all the interstate roads, which they have already talked about, to help defray costs of maintaining all of them. :annoyed:
Will be interesting to see the outcome, I think the residents of PA are going to foot the bill in one way or the other!

You are probably correct in the PA residents footing most of the bill. Heaven forbid if trucking companies paid their fair share of maintaining the road. In the end we all pay for the bill due to higher cost being passed on to us. I really do not know how good the PA turnpike commission is with stewarding the money for operations. The PA Turnpike is already a part of the Interstate Highway System so there has to be some Federal money in there somewhere.

I didn't realize it was already part of the Interstate system, from what I understood it was privately held, but I would also think some federal money has been thrown in somewhere. They have been raising tolls, but it would take an immense toll hike to make up for an 11.8 billion debt!
Maybe time to go back a few years and do an audit!

I recently drove the PA Turnpike ~200 miles west to meet up with someone, then turned around and drove the same distance back home. The section I drove is a beautiful highway, in beautiful condition. I also routinely drive the Northeast Extension from Lansdale down to the E/W link. Also beautiful and recently widened to 3 lanes each direction.

Compared to even 10 years ago it is vastly improved, at least the parts I drive. Back then it was a frightening experience in those same parts. I'll keep spending my travel dollars there. I hope the investment pays off.

I agree Dave. I have been driving the turnpikes twice a year for the last 22 years. We travel the section from Breezewood PA to I280 N into Toledo OH. Both turnpikes have upgraded roads and rest areas in this time frame. The addition of EZ Pass to both turnpikes is one of the best upgrades that has been made. There is always construction somewhere but it is usually manageable. We usually travel on Tuesdays or Wednesdays avoiding Friday, Saturday and Sunday. New Years day is also an easy day to be on the Turnpikes no matter which day it falls on. ;)

HMMMM; a woman spills hot coffee on herself at McDonald's and is awarded $640k, a man spends 36 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit and is entitled to $250k, something just doesn't seem right! Oh well, he got 3 squares, free housing, and other prison benefits while there, guess that counts for something. Starting to see more and more of this especially with advances being made in DNA technology, this guy was freed on fingerprint evidence that someone finally took the time to look into.

Yes, I have had Buffalo Trace - and it is a nice bourbon. We didn't get a chance to get to the distillery so I didn't buy any on this trip.

Well, well, well...my wife was out last night w/her friends.
Her best friend since kindergarten (seriously), Donna has a son who is my wife's God child.
Well, he's getting married next May.
Here's the kicker...the wedding is taking place in Detroit!!
    What...Detroit!
I'm sure everything will go smoothly and be very nice but just all the bad news concerning Detroit concerns me.
