At least it's steel. Steel sticks to a magnet. I do a fair bit of Al machining, and I have a phobia of getting Al in my eyeball. I've heard some bad Al + eyeball stories.

Yeah but it's not like they use magnets to get it out of your eye, at least my doc didn't. He went in there with a little needle to break it free then a qtip to grab it. I'd rather it not be steel so it doesn't rust.

Are either of you professional welders?
Do job specs dictate what rod is used for pipe or structural stuff?

Anything with a weld spec will dictate all that. Can be pipe, structural, aircraft tig stuff, even cages for sanctioned races to an extent. I know the aluminum boat manufacturers I'm around all have weld specs like that.

So you have to use what a spec says? Or can you pick your rods for most things?

I really like this goggle/flip-down face mask. Not too bulky and offers alot more protection then safety glasses. I've heard some stories of discs blowing up in people's faces, so it's always in the back of my mind when grinding/cutting.

Everyone should be real careful when buying New Welders or anything with a longer warranty .

Not all Distributor counter people understand just how warranties work as to when they start .

Most Major Brands are when they are built not when they are sold Then recon machines have a reduced warranty .

I deal with Warranty claims a few times a week

The reason I bring this up dealing with a Contractor who bought a new Bobcat that had been sitting at the distributor so long the warranty had expired . The machine in question only has like 30 hours looking at expensive repairs .

Should be interesting How this plays out

I know a few different cases like this over the years Product gets ordered Customer cancels distributor figures we can sell this it gets put on the shelf buried and found a few years later.

Just be aware and look into things

    this is great!
I've recently aquired a cold cut saw, and have been hit in the face with little chips pretty much every cut. I was thinking of buying those face masks you see on FB, and Amazon ( ones with the flames / skulls / ect.. ) but hot damn! that mask is exactly what I'd want!

Thanks for the show'n tell

They actually do use a magnet, depending on the situation.

I have one in my trauma kit - though, it has never been used.

What’s major issues does the bobcat have? Other than the rotor, there isn’t much on the Miller side of the welder that would be major. The Engine side has always been the harder side to warranty. We get the run around from Kohler all the time.
