Anyone get a 3rd gen done yet? Apparently the frames on the 3rd gens are just as bad

You think a 3 year old truck is going to have rust holes in the frame?

Also now is a great time to look at maintenance because the whole truck is already apart

I had my frame replaced two months ago. I've gone through not even two tanks of gas and there's already surface rust on the new one.

    Yep.
Sounds wrong. It should be in 2021. What is your DOFU?

Example: my 09, DOFU is August 25, 2008. Drop dead inspection date is August 25, 2020.

Edit: looks like other hit on this already... missed the last page

This is shitty. Dealer put a brand new bumper on my truck 2,000 miles ago and it is rusting too.

Makes me wonder why we are all here sometimes. Love these trucks but JFC. My 97 rotted in half and I'm still here back for more.

Agreed, I cant believe whether it be the frame, bumper or any other metal part doesn't at least have some sort of coating or a mildly resilient paint.

What is some of the recommended maintenance. I currently have 90,000 miles.

Thanx for that. I called another dealer and they told me Nov, 21 2021 like you say, for frame replacement. Apparently, the first dealer was talking about the treatment plan. Any opinion on the treatment plan and it worth?

My dealership quoted me $650 for shocks/struts that I can get online for less than half that.

Wow, so it turns out my frame was replaced in 2015. So lucky!

It looked clean as hell and still had stickers on it when I bought it. Whew.

Still going to have them powerwash it this weekend now that salt season is over.

So I just had an 07 TRD OR into the dealer for the frame treatment. It is a company truck. Deadline was end of May, according to management of my company. They called to say it was done about 2 days after I dropped it off. I picked it up 4 days after that. The coating is greasy feeling and still wet. Anybody have any idea what they are using?

Rubbized, petroleum oil based undercoating. It will never really dry, but it will dry out and flake off over time

The stuff they used on mine was called noxudol.
Mine was parked on the lawn for 3 days because it actually dripped for 2 days.
If they didn’t prep good it’s just gonna grow rust under it until it grows enough to bust out.
The cavity wax same name really seemed to work though.
It was white in color, tech that replaced my frame did the noxudol cavity stuff for me..

As mentioned above it does not last or really help just makes everything black.

It does not look like much. Hardly worth the time.

Your right, it just turns shit black and hides the problem. As far as all the Noxudol info I’ve seen, is while it’s marketed as a rust prevention, it by no means is a rust killer. I find it silly Toyota picked the product to begin with.

Looks only suited for coating a pristine frame, not one that’s been taken down to surface rust.
