Be careful in 4x4 engaged on pavement while doing the slight steering.

BTW, even if the locker was malfunctioning the following thoughts never entered my mind-

    Truck is junk
    Lemon law time
    Toyota quality slipping
    Turd gen
    Dealer screwed me

My only thought was, damn my baby is sick, time to call the doctor!

Nope, originally was on a very damp soft dirt road. The second time was in my soft wet gravel drive.

Not my first 4x4. But it is the first locker of this type. I'm used to GM's locker. Completely different system.

Don't be afraid to wrestle the truck a bit. Driving 4wd on pavement isnt the best thing to do but short periods to test 4wd or a locker isn't gonna hurt. You're just gonna chirp the tires a little. The truck ia stronger than you think.

Truth ^^^. The Tacoma is much stronger than your average person’s willingness to beat on it.

Believe me, there is a shitload more stress on the drivetrain doing this stuff vvv than turning on pavement in 4WD. Think about it people:

Shitposts and banter aside, the TW community always steps up to help, and there is no shame in asking any question. Lots of knowledge from guys who also had to figure it out with help from others.

The more you use the locker the easier it should engage. Toyo actuators take forever to grab, be it into 4wd or using the locker. Only vehicle I've been in where you have to do the world's slowest donut for it to engage. Just make sure you're locked before you go into something or you'll be stuck with flashing lights and no engagement. You kinda have to pre plan locker use
