I plan on getting a 3 inch lift, that’s a definite. But I have the possibility of putting either 18s on, and 275/70r18 on. Or a 16 inch rim and 33s. Would either or need or not require a cab mount chop to not rub? I’m fine with taking the mud flaps off to prevent that rub. Thanks everyone for reading

Running a 3" lift on 285/75/16's and I did a CMC. If you don't plan on going off pavement or cycling the suspension at all, you MIGHT be okay. Every truck is different however. It's not an exact science.

I may do the occasional dirt road, hitting the occasional ankle deep mud hole, but Other than that I won’t do much off-roading. What do you think

Install them and chop if you need to. Again, it's not an exact science

I have 285/75/16s on stock rims under a 3” lift and front end leveler.

The issue isn’t the tallness of the tire, but the width of it. The truck is my DD, and I do some off-road driving.

I’m getting some gnarly rubbing noise when turning and stuffing even a little bit (like turning int a driveway). When I look at the wear spots, I will need to trim some of the wheel well liner and do a cab mount chop.

Others have said it: each truck is slightly different. Each tire brand is slightly different. I’d put them on and see what happens.

FWIW i have 275/65/18 under a 2-2.5 inch lift, still have mudflaps and no rubbing at all

    Yep. It’s the width...

The same shit everyone else has.

    This.

I run 285s and do not have a cab mount chop, but my alignment pushes the wheels as far forward as possible and I had to trim the flares and fender liners.

I don’t wheel hard, mostly forest service roads and shit like that.

If you go with the SPC UCA's that are adjustable, you might not need the cmc. I'm running 305/65/17 on 17x8.5 with -10 offset and had a little bit of rubbing at full lock on position D (my lca's are not maxed out). I just changed them to position E which pushes the tire further forward and the rubbing seems to be gone and I have not done the cmc. My mud flaps are gone and the flares are trimmed along with the pinch weld bent back. It will still depend on the brand tire, size and wheel (width and offset) as to whether the tire might contact the mount.

I run a 285/75 16 (ruffly 33.1 x 11.3) with mud claw XT (aggressive) on stock rims. i had to cut the cab mounts. The lugs on tire would still rub on the UCA when i turned. Add 2 in spacers and then had to cut some plastic:sawzall:
