thinkin' about a 2010 Tundra

I currently drive an 09 DC 4X4. It is and has been a great truck. Previously I've always driven a full size truck. I just can't warm up to my Tacoma, it's small, and somewhat confining.
I've looked at all except the Dodge, hemi fuel efficiency is no good for me.
Chevy, while no real longevity issues,just seems cheap and the bailout money troubles me.
The F150 is a solid truck and a great interior IMO.
My best deal comes from Toyota. I've driven the new 4.6l and it is plenty for my needs.
There seem sto be alot of Tundra hate, yet most reviews are favorable
Anyone else contemplating one?
I'm not looking for the Taco rules, everything else drools youthful replies, thanks

 

Get the 2011 F-150 Raptor 4dr 6.2L. Thats the only truck I would trade the taco for. The Raptor is so hot!

Same thing happened to my dad. He went from an f-250 to my tacoma a couple years back. He couldn't stand the space, so he gave me the tacoma, and sold my f150. Then, he bought a 2500 HD Silverado.

I would get an F-150. Best full size truck out imo.

I think you should buy what you want regardless of anyone's opinion.

I think the Tundra is a very nice truck and it would be at the top of my list of full size trucks.

 

Tundra or F-150 are the only fullsize trucks I would ever buy. I give the edge to the F-150. The interior is better, and Ford's reliability these days is on par with the Japanese. Just make sure you get the new 6.xL V8, not the old 5.4L...it's kind of a dog, and it was designed and built before Ford's new reliability uptick.

The Tundra is also an excellent truck. You'll hear some BS about frame flex, but it's no worse than GM, Dodge, etc - the Tundra's frame is plenty stout, otherwise it wouldn't have the towing and payload capacities it does.

Either way you go, get ready to pay through the nose for gas. Even with the smaller V8s, you won't get Taco mileage. You also won't be nearly as competent off road, although considerably better at towing and hauling.

 

Only the Raptor comes in the 5.4L or 6.2L V8. The regular F-150 comes in 4.6 or 5.4L

 

The tundra is also a very strong towing vehicle for being a non-deisel. My buddy has an '08 tundra 5.7 and he tells me that it tows better than his '05 2500HD duramax he had before. He got rid of the Duramax because it was a pile of crap and started falling apart at 50k miles. The 2500 was only two years old when he got rid of it and he only got half of what he paid for it...says a lot about GM.

 

I've heard good things about the Tundra, F-150 and Silverado in general (I work in construction so everyone has pick-ups). Each seems to have it's own neat features and downfalls. The only common downfall I've heard from Tundra owners is the gas mileage with the 5.7L. I don't know anyone with the smaller V8 unfortunately. All 3 are nice trucks, good luck!

No shit? I thought the 6.2L was for the whole F150 platform.

Fuck it then, buy a Tundra. Or wait for Ford to drop a variant of the new Mustang 5.0L into the F150 (which will undoubtedly happen...it's too good of an engine for Ford to waste on only one model), which, tuned for a little more torque and a little less HP, would be awesome.

 

Beds bounce due to frame flex....beds are bolted to the frame. That infamous video Ford put out of the Tundra bouncing like crazy where the F-150 doesn't is essentially propaganda that applies to almost no real world situations.

HD pickups (250/2500/350/3500 series) are built using C-channel frames. Fully boxed is just one way of solving a problem with many answers.

 

I would get the Tundra, best looking full size IMO.

 

Funny, but today I traded a 2010 Ford F-150 Scab with 2400 miles today on a 2010 Tacoma DC 4x4...and could not be more happy. I tried in vain to make the F-150 work, I bought it in early June...and just was not fellin' it.

And I've had a dozen Ford and Chevy trucks in the past. Some I would buy again in a NY minute.

The new Ford is a hell of a truck, but it's effin HUGE! The new F-150's are as big as the old F-250's IMO...and if you are not a biggun (and I'm not even close to biggun) it's hard to get comfortable in.

 

most people on here are going to say they hate the tundra because we all have a tacoma. some because they regret getting the smaller tacoma, some because they really just love the tacoma. i personally like my tacoma a lot! but i'm not here to wreak havoc on the tundra. the only thing i have against it is that the newer body styles are just so big and unpleasant to my eyes, lol. i don't like the new tundra body style at all; you might. personally, i'd get one of the smaller/older body style tundras (somewhere around 03-04?) with all the options on it. two reasons: one, previously stated, i just can't get past the look of the newer ones; two, it will be much cheaper, which will allow you much more money to upgrade to nicer/bigger tires and wheels, lift, etc. that's just my worthless opinion.
