    What’s going on TW

Long story short, I had some RGB DRL boards installed when I did the BHLM. I didn’t like the oem white led DRL’s, I wanted them to be amber instead. I wasn’t really happy with the end result, as the Amber wasn’t a true amber but a mix of red and green leds and they had to be activated by cell phone every time I started the truck which got old in just a couple days.

After seeing enough 2nd gens drive by, along with SR model 3rd gens, I fell in love with the iconic Toyota look of the ambers on all the time.

SO....I come to you guys asking for some help. I found one thread on here about it that was a DIY but it’s an older thread and I’m getting no luck using the diagram posted.

Seems like this isn’t as simple as it would be on other vehicles, but any help would be greatly appreciated. I bought leds to replace the factory bulbs so I know that can be a factor. I saw that @mesojdm used Amber/Amber switchbacks from VLED’s a couple years back but they’re no longer available of course. Thanks in advance!

    Here’s a thread on them

I also envy the SR/SR5 look. Reminds me of my 2nd gen.
I noticed the higher trims had no ambers at all unless you count the front side marker or turn signal.

I did something a little different. I converted my 7440A to 7443A and have the low filament on with headlights.

I’m not the best with car electrical but I think I get what you did. 7443 being a dual filament, I’m assuming you cut the factory plug off of the trucks harness and put a 3 wire one on like off of a sr5? Unless it’s not that simple but I’d assume you ran the 3rd wire to the headlight? If that’s correct, could I just do the same but run it to my side marker instead? I’d really like to have the signals on as DRL’s but this may work too.

I bought everything in that first post of that thread, but I must not be wiring it right. Once I wired it, my signals were still just turn signals. I appreciate the help!

The wiring is correct. It’s a super simple mod. Although, I did not cut the factory wires off. I depinned them and can go back to factory wiring.

You’re saying I’m right about what you did? If that’s the case, I may just order a 7443 pigtail and wire the 3rd lead to the + of the DRL 3 wire plug. I already have a DRL pigtail I can tap into

Yes the extra wire from the 7443 socket can be wired to your DRL pigtail
