What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Yes I was stuck in the middle of nowhere. Back roads. It was kinda F up.

 

Pioneer AVIC-W8400NEX. There was a flash sale on them a few weeks ago. Sweet unit.

Maestro takes care of a good number of the functions. I just installed a Kenwood with the Maestro unit, and am documenting the functions/quirks/features as I go along. While it's not the same head unit in the linked thread, I'm sure a number of the functions remain the same:

I think one of the things about Wireless Android Auto that folks should understand is that it only works with certain phones. I have a Pixel phone, and wireless AA works flawlessly.

I'm becoming a huge fan of Kenwood right now. The unit I put in (DMX905S) is extremely feature rich for a mechless head unit. I had a Pioneer in my last truck.

I added this Head Unit also... I really like it. It also has two camera capability.... I use the rear with the stock camera that came on the truck and I installed a front view camera in the grill. Both can be controlled from the head unit anytime. When in reverse the camera automaticly goes to the rear view as normal.

 

Looks great, what brand hood visor is that?

 

Air Force looks better. Lol

 

It is an aeroskin II hood visior. Works great. Uses 3m tape to stick on hood. I’ve had it for 3 years no issues at all with it coming unstuck.

how difficult is it to install a flip kit/bumps to a leaf pack while it’s on the truck. Thinking of putting Icon RXTs on my truck today and next month getting a flip kit. If it a pain in the ass I’ll wait until I have the flip kit/bumps.

 

yeah, I'm not a fan of having to install another microphone and clipping it somewhere. If they're all like that, then I'll just stick with the stock unit. It does what I need for now.

 

Picked up some skids from the Fastenall. Had to beat feet to get em before they closed for the day. Looking forward to getting the coated and mounted up.

 

I lost the cap off of a 5 quart jug of mobil1 about 6 months ago. Still haven’t found it!

There is someone on here that was developing an adapter for the OEM mic. I did not clip my mic anywhere, I removed the mic module from the OEM position, and placed the new mic in that spot. I dabbed a little hot glue in there to keep it from rattling or dislodging. Ran the wire down the driver side A pillar and attached to the head unit. When there finally is a plug/play solution for the the OEM mic, I'll use that.

From the complexity of my install, this was the least bothersome step.

We all drive around with our license plates fully visible. Unless you are doing something illegal your license plate exposed is pretty much meh
