alright cool, just skip over my actual question worth discussing.

I want YOUR answer. whatever YOU feel is necessary to you.

Like I know you have your camp kitchen setup stuff in one of your swing boxes, but that's not like a "should always have" right? so what do you feel you ALWAYS carry and wouldn't want to be without?

 

Jk. I'd get together a really good tire repair kit, a basic fluids kit for your truck, and comprehensive tool kit. And of course all your recovery gear.

 

all good options. I'm always so torn on carrying tools in the truck vs. leaving them in the garage.

I can def use a good tire repair kit.

 

I'd always keep a dewalt impact in there, a mechanics tool set (one that will actually fit in the trays), mini sledge hammer, tire repair kit and of course your ARB, tie downs/straps.
Those are the daily stuff, and usually always in my bed.

 

other than the impact (I don't own one) and the tire repair kit, I've got that stuff.

the kobalt kit I bought is great, except the box sucks and actually doesn't fit in the decked. gotta find a new organization method for the tools in it.

 

I have two tool kits, one that's a bit more comprehensive that stays in the garage, and one of the dewalt tool kits that were 80 bucks at costco.

a good tire repair kit is just something that can insert a plug in a tire. nothing special. I just bought the walmart slime kit and have used it twice now.

 

The solution to that debate is to have 2 sets of tools. With a deep wall socket set, a set of wrenches, a big adjustable wrench, a ratchet, and a breaker bar in the truck, you can fix just about any trail break.

 

I really like my tool roll. Look at Atlas46 gear. Its not the cheapest, but it holds up. They make all sorts of tool organization stuff.

 

haha yeah I'd love to have 2 sets of tools to keep, that's just too pricey.

 

Also, the thing about buying tool kits is they rarely actually have the socket sizes you need for the truck.

By buying the tools for the truck and not getting all the BS in a lot that won’t get used, you will probably save a good bit of money.

yeah the only tool "kit" I've bought is that kobalt one because I just couldn't pass it up, and it's got more sockets than I will EVER use but at least I have them. I have a small craftsman set that I got as an xmas gift YEARS ago and I keep it in the T4R for small stuff.

 

I've got some sockets that will never get used sadly. I've bought kits just for one socket before. Nothing extreme, but HF impact sockets only because i needed one size.

 

This is what I use. I didn't spend money on the Atlas 46 rolls because it was just too much.
