While most are trying to lose weight, I am up to #215 this AM. Probably will be cutting in 2 months. Plan is #225 before cut... then the cut only back to #210 roughly. I am hoping to have built up from the last time I was #210. Last time I was the weight I am now, I was not nearly as lean or full, so I am on a good path. Keeping sodium higher (because my damn muscle lock up issues which have been great since I upped sodium!)

PS: my gf doesn't even wear gloves lol :boink:

Nice! I’m down to 228 as of last Friday from a starting weight of 254 but my body fat has dropped significantly (visually). I’m the strongest I’ve ever been even when I was under 200 about 12 years ago. Aiming for 215 then assess where I’m at to see if I’m ready to bulk the right way. I want to be strong AF but don’t want to be at a high body fat percentage in order to achieve that.

Right now my metabolism is on fire and it feels like I’m eating too much all the damn time (small meals every 2-3 hours) but I’ve got to be careful to make sure I get enough calories. I can’t imagine the amount of work (eating) it’s going to take to bulk since I’m now no longer addicted to food.

    Found the fitness thread! Fun!

Hi, I just recently jumped back in with both feet after about a 15 year hyatus from any significant exercise. Started last year with some running, but that didn't go far, maybe 15 3mi runs in a year. Switched to mostly bodybuilding in Sep since that's what I knew from when I was 20 or so. Gained ~9lbs and was happy with that for a start. I'm skinny and need to hit somewhere around 190-210 to be at a good weight, prob.

But then I started educating myself and soon realized I was totally bro-lifting. Damn! So switched my program up to a more well-rounded one, learned about deadlifts and squats for the first time ever and started all that mid-Dec. Cmas break and a minor shoulder injury slowed me down but then I got back at it late Jan and here I am. Switched my routine just now to a bit more powerlifter than bodybuilder (more focused on squat/dead/bench/press than ever). Now trying to keep up @ 3500 cals a day so I can put on some muscle and strength.

It's been fun reading up a bit in here.

I got there. Then I blew out a hip :bananadead:

Once I’m back to squatting I’ll be back on the same BS and hopefully get to 1300+ in 2020 although I’ve recently taken interest in strongman. The coach I’m about to start working with does both strongman and powerlifting so I’m going to play with both. Those guys just look like they have more fun, and they can be fat and no one cares

Not even close. I've been out of the pl game for awhile, since switching to oly stuff

But back during the pl focus I was right at 1090.
Oly movements have really helped with my comfortability with the squat dl, so that should be a nice bounceback.

But the bench.... I haven't benched heavy in years

    So thisll be fun

Some kid totaled 2436 as a junior (23 years old) and was the first person to ever squat 1000 and pull 900 in a full power meet.

Currently holds the 9th highest total on the planet.

For some reason I’ve always always always struggled with my squats. Even back in high school powerlifting days. I can almost bench more than I can squat in a weird way

Could be many things, foot position, stance, bar placement on your back, weight drive (thru heels or toes). Or maybe you just neglect legs and favor bench like 95% of everyone else? :boink:

Legs are a massive muscle group and require 2x a week for sure. I've done legs mostly 2x a week since I started lifting. I mainly use one day (now) for strength and the other day for isolation / pump. When I powerlifted I did similar, where I did 3x reps max usually, then later in the week 6-8 reps volume.
