Ahhh, the days of base access stickers on vehicles. The worst possible OPSEC idea ever.

 

I started to say that pre 9/11 it was not even a thought as far as OPSEC, but really it should have been since we supposedly were watching for Soviet infiltration as the big threat.

Want to infilitrate almost any military installation? Get a job delivering pizza or steal a UPS/Fedex truck. I got stopped at the gate and asked about any weapons in the car, while driving a fully marked Crown Vic Police Interceptor, in full uniform. I was busy telling the guard, "Yes. I have more guns in here than you have out there." as they waved the UPS truck on without a second glance.

 

That's ridiculous. If any local PD had to come on base for any reason, we asked them why, and sent them on their way without an escort if it was legitimate.

Or another easy way, steal an ambulance and approach the gate running code. We'd wave em right on through.
