So I have new 2019 OR. On flat interstate using cruise @ 80 mph, truck in 6th, all is fine. When I come to the SLIGHTEST incline, truck shifts down to 5th. This goes on and on and on, etc.

Simply put...does the OVTune fix that “issue” and allow the truck to hold 6th gear until a “true” incline is encountered?

It is possible you may never see them as separate tunes . Mat said he is working on a tune that uses the knock sensor to adjust the tune on the fly (so to speak) and change with what grade of fuel is in the tank . This would create a lot less individual tunes to change each time a new tune is released . I am betting he wants to wind up with a tune that covers 87/91/93 octanes in one tune. Then have 04B02/04B03 04B04 etc. with and without gearlock . Also tunes for the manual etc. This would reduce the tunes he has to modify by 66% . He knows that anyone can update to the 04B04 by themselves if they want to use the performance tunes with what is available now .
    Just my guess . :hattip:

Flashed the 87 performance tune this morning. I love it! Truck flies. I'm leaving it on this one for sure! Been running errands before working tonight and don’t won’t to stop riding around!

In total agreement. Also, it was well noted by OVT that upgrading to the TSB tune is highly recommended for a baseline.

My experience of the 87 GL tune, yes.

Before the tune when I encountered an overpass it would downshift from 6 to 5 and 4 at times. With the tune it holds 6 no problem. My speed is around 65 mph.

I have this same issue, always when backing out of the garage before it's warmed up. About 500 miles into 87 performance tune.

Mat told me it was fixable but I don’t believe it’s something he’s currently working on.

I've had the truck for about 2 weeks now, and have settled in on driving in ECT mode exclusively. This makes my in town driving fully acceptable, but the highway driving is what is killing me.

Odd thing...I traded a 2014, 2.7L 4-cyl, base steel wheel truck for this V6. The 2.7L held 80 mph on cruise ALL DAY LONG...amazing the difference.

I have a "highway" car that I use for trips and commuting to work. The new Tacoma is for putting around going to Home Depot, driving on my land, etc. So while it would be great if it was better on the highway, it's kinda not a big deal for me and my situation, but I am evaluating the OVTune option.

I am curious to know how the tune affects driving when driving around town like an old lady (which is what I do most of the time)...because as we all know even with that driving style the constant shifting is insane (except when in ECT mode).

This sounds like you would prefer the base tune the most. Balanced, predictable shifting, and standard tip in.
