I’m glad the cops ticket people for tint that obscures the driver and impedes her/her vision. I hate crossing the street or walking through a parking lot with my kids and dealing with lifted trucks with blacked out windows. You can’t see where the driver is looking or turning the wheel. I’m not much of a safety nut, but heavily tinted windows make a vehicle unsafe for the driver and for everyone else.

I'm gonna just throw this out there....it's your vehicle, your money. But......if you ever get into an accident.....you could be sued for that dark of tint. I'm not posting this to start an argument but just for information. I've seen it where a guy was sued (and lost) for the tinted tail lights - lady didn't see he was stopping.....he was found to be at fault.

    Anyway, carry on.

I was thinking the same thing. Liability alone makes it really stupid to tint your front windshield, I have a clear nano film on my windshield just to help with UV and heat but its CLEAR.

If you're ever at fault in an accident a lawyer would have a field day if they found out your windshield is blacked out.

You probably didn't get sued for bodily harm either but guess what... that still happens all the time.

You honestly believe if a competent lawyer figured out your windshield was completely illegal they wouldn't have used that again'st you??

You don't know much about lawyers :/

    And you're lucky AF lol

Maybe, but it was his lawyer against my insurance. My insurance never sent an adjuster after the wreck. The truck was towed to one of their "preferred" body shops for the estimate and repairs. Luckily my good friend happened to be the regional manager of said body shop, so I knew the work would be done correctly.

The windshield cracked because of the wreck and had to be replaced anyway, haven't ever had the opportunity to put more film on the new one yet. Probably will soon.

ETA - had I had a dash cam at the time of the accident I could have proven that the idiot intentionally brake checked me and there would have been a very different outcome. But I digress. It's done now.

Here in Arizona during summer having 5% you can see clearly outside during the day. At night is where it gets a little dark. Even cops have limo at front windows. Not the windshield though. I’m getting 15% all around with 50% windshield. Llumar formula one stratos.
    Don’t do much night driving

5% all the way around on top of factory tint (except windshield because we replace them every other month out here in Arizona). Never ran anyone or anything over at night. Must just be lucky and have good eye sight :notsure:

Its one thing to do the side windows, they aren't your main field of vision and if you are having trouble seeing you can roll them down if necessary. The windshield is an entirely different situation.

I have 20 on the sides and 50 on the windshield. All ceramic. Wife has the same on the 4Runner. I won’t own a vehicle in the south without windshield tint. Anything lower then 50 though is asking for trouble.

I just did 20% front 30% on the rear on the privacy glass and 50% windshield. Probably should of went 40% for the rear

LoL. Where I'm from dark tint just means they bring an extra cop car to the party. If you are pulled over you may have to wait for the 2nd car to show up before they approach. When I had my Saabaru it was pretty dark and I had that once or twice, the Audi is at the legal limit for Michigan and so far they haven't had any issues. The Taco needs to be done yet and I'm thinking of staying legal there too. Provides a decent amount of privacy and cooling.

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
    Need another option:
Why would anybody do something so stupid?

I know of two accident lawsuits in San Diego that dark tint was a major factor. Without the tint, they would likely have not been found at fault. Needless to say, they both were found at fault and had to pay significant sums to the other party.

Nope, no windshield tint or blacked out side windows for me. Not only is it unsafe, it opens you up to lawsuits and potential jail time as well.
