Sounds like the Toyos did a pretty good job. I decided to just go with KO2s since Ill be doing a lot of offroading and heard great things about them. Not sure if you took the KO2s out to get dirty. What vehicle did you decide to go with?

 

I ran the original BFG KO & KM for many years on all my rigs. That said I feel that the KO2 was not as good of a tire as the original. The redesign of the A/T removed its ability to clean out in the mud. This was a non issue with the KO, they just worked better in most situations. Doubt I’ll own another set.

 

I have been off the pavement briefly with the KO2s and I didn’t have any issues but I couldn’t really compare to the Toyos because I didn’t have them that long.

I didn’t get a new vehicle. I had 3 vehicles before I had the Tacoma and it just got to be too much keeping all of them driven. Too many for one person at the moment. So I’m down to a Subaru Outback and a Silverado.

Damn I don't blame you, that's a lot to keep up with. Don't know how you do it. The outback is a phenomenal vehicle so you've got a good reliable vehicle. Hell I stand by Subaru after I hit a bear in my crosstrek.

I kept the Silverado over the Tacoma because of the higher towing capacity and bigger bed. Get more use of it in a practicle way.

 

Yeah I don't blame you with the truck decision. The Tacoma really wasn't built with towing or much bed use in mind. More of a general use truck with occasional bed use. What year silverado do you have?

Not nearly what they should be. Think I am at about 1.5-1.75” over stock. My truck is a severely overweight. I don’t have a current measurement on them but I’ll try to grab current measurements on them for you. I have been researching some coils that will work with the current struts with a heavier spring rate. Will definitely update after I do some real world testing on them.

Just checked mine I am at 22” hub center to fender on both sides. Not sure where most people are at with the 886. I do have a trim packer on the driver strut.

 

Crazy man I’m at 22” with no added weight at all. I’m talking to headstrong about it but it definitely seems like something is off

Here’s a side view I can get a better picture once the guy next to me moves. Parked on a slope front to back. Rear has an Icon AAL w/ overload left in and is at 23” which I feel is pretty low too. I think it’s a bit sagged out as I had my RTT on it over summer.

 

Opposite sides but I leveled both of our trucks in the photos. Mine with the OME heavy rear leaves has a 2” rake. Your’s with the icon rear aal looks relatively leveled if not just a touch of “Cali lean” as we call it in Texas. The front between suspension seems to set about the same. Looks like you are running 285 tires and I am on 255/85r16 that are just over a 33”.

I personally would be looking to do something with the rear suspension on your truck to bring it up some. On mine I am looking to get back to the factory 1” rake as opposed to the 2” rake I have now.

 

Trucks got a 1” rake as is, 22” up front 23” in the back. I’m going to get Dakars in back and shortly thereafter a plate bumper in front so that’s why the front being so low concerns me. Plus lots of rubbing since I’m on 285/75/17. They were great even off-road flexing before the 886s sagged

 

Well I do know that the spring rate on a 2886 coil is listed as 660 lb/in and that stock OR coils has been measured at 700 lb/in. I do not know why OME has not made a coil that is >700 lb spring rate for the 3rd gen yet. There are springs out there that meet that requirement if you do some digging but they are for other applications. I am not going to divulge the information that I have found on those until I have had time to get some solid long term testing on them. All I will say is that they are OME coils that are for a non US market vehicle that is not a Hilux, Surf, Parado or Fortuner.
