So my 2017 TRD Sport 2WD with under 22000 looks like it developed a leak from the timing chain cover.
Taking it to the dealer tomorrow.

It looks like something the dealers might not be mentioning. So maybe everyone might want to take a look at their toys. To make sure you don’t have it.
Looks like Toyota is sitting on it.. waiting for the warranties to run out.

I believe there is a TSB for the 2005 to 2008’s with a similar problem.

Here is a thread going on about the issue.

Because the customer needs to make a "complaint" about a leak for it to get fixed under warranty...

I know. And this is something that specially people just taking it to the dealer. Might not be aware of.

I had a 2016 TRD OR, I did not notice the leak but when I took it in for service they found it ordered all the parts and got it fixed. Think it took them 2 days.

Why would you have a 2wd truck. Why not just buy a car or a ridgeline

Because you can't tow a trailer loaded with an ATV and gear with a car safely, and the Ridgeline in its 2wd form is a front wheel drive vehicle, so that limits your towing/hauling. Also, some people need a truck bed but dont need 4wd. I am not putting 20 bags of mulch and 10 bags of river rock in our Rav4 for the annual touch up of my flower beds, and I am not taking my truck off road, so that's why a 2wd.

80yrs of solid 2wd pickup sales laughs in his face.

But hey, that's real trucks, why you not get a 4WD Tacoma?

OP is in SoCal just like me.

Theres zero need for 4wd unless you want to go offroading.

I guess I should have got a Civic to tow my camping trailer and kayak for my camping trips.

Yep I got 4wd because I live in the Midwest, notorious for random snowstorms, flooding, etc, etc.

People should get whatever fits their needs. Too many buy into the marketing crap that they MUST HAVE a large SUV, a huge V8 truck, 4WD, lifted, modded, 400-hp at least...

If I lived in So Cal or the dry SW or SE and had no plans for off-roading, it’d be a completely different calculus.

Back OT, I hope my brand new 2019 doesn’t have any leaks. At 400 miles so far so good.
