Best Gps--- what do you use?

My wife and I have been traveling alot, and we feel like this thing is now warranted, What I'm worried is what you're running. Drop me a Make and Model please!!! Thanks guys... stay dirty.

 

I've got the Magellan Maestro 1400? I believe i'll check, but to be honest just about anything by Garmin or Magellan is going to be good. My dad, grandad, step-dad and step-sister all have Garmin GPSs and I love them, just as much as mine

 

bought my wife a Garmin 265w for xmas based on price and bluetooth enabled. She like it as it was for her. Live traffic updates and reroutes. also has a battery for portability.

 

iPhone. When I was in Sri Lanka and Cambodia it got a signal before the one I got from my unit did

 

I use my blackberry on the road (you need phone signal to load the maps). I have a Delorme PN-60 for off road or remote areas. It has better features for trails and trip planning, but routing on the device is a little slow.
If you plan on going where there is no phone, dedicated handheld is the way to go.

 

It's old....but we have a Garmen Nuvi 660. It's been a great little GPS, but they don't make it anymore. It has bluetooth (I don't use it) and you can store/play music from it (I don't use that either).


With GPS's, you can't go wrong with the popular name brands.

 

i have a tomtom one on my bike and alpine nav in the truck. I like my Alpine better than my tomtom

 

Garmin GPS that is built into my Kenwood head unit, has not failed me yet.

I have a Garmin 260W and I love it.

 

I use GPS on an almost daily basis in my work vehicle and move it to the tacoma on weekends. I can just tell you my experience

I'm on my 3rd GPS since December '09

-First was a Nextar (I think it was a Q4)
-screen froze after about 6weeks, never unfroze

2nd
-Garmin Nuvi 1350
-wouldn't turn on after about 2months

3rd
-garmin Nuvi 1350 (warranty replacement)
-works so far, about 2 months of use

I think Garmin has a great user interface, i would never buy another nextstar. I recomend not leaving it in the window if you want it to keep working .

If I still drove my taco for work, i'd get an in-dash system

i have a magellan roadmate 1200. its a crappy model but it gets me around. it does take some retarded turns tho, and got me lost a few times before. i wouldnt buy another one.

also just bought a garmin nuvi 255w for the gf. played around with it and it has a much better interface than the magellan and it speaks the street names, where my magellan just says turn in so man meters.

go with the garmin. google their site. it says right there, "follow the leader"

 

I went w/a Garmin nuvi 750 (but they don't make this model any more. BTW does anyone know where I can get a cheap USB cable to update my maps.

I have the Garmin Nuvi. I can't remember the number, but it's the cheaper one. So far, it works great and seems to be pretty tough (it's taken a few spills from the truck)

 

I bought a usb universal kit from Big Lots. Ive updated my garmin with no problem at all with it.

i use a Gamin Nuvi 500 in my truck... use it a lot for offroading the desert too...

works great with preplanned trails, offroad race courses, and navigating through the open desert...

 

I've been looking for a car GPS that takes UTM coordinates too.

Haven't found any clear answers on this in my googling.

Tomtom seems to have the better service and support and map upgrade plans. I read lots of complaints about the Garmin and Magellans, less so about the Tomtoms.
