Maybe a little of both. ALWAYS consider modifications/deletions/adjustments you just made before seeking blame in other places. Coincidences are rare. You might wanna leave the fixin' to someone else next time!

That said, everyone who is a good wrench has done something just as or more stupid than you did. Carry on.

He's in this thread so I doubt it. I'm a noob at this.
Crows foot? I have those on each eye after squinting at my shifter for 20 minutes!

Haha it's like a weird shaped pry bar. Where one end looks like a crows foot and the other is tapered to a point. It'll help line all that up and can't be too expensive. And don't listen to the haters. We all fucked some shit up from time to time in the beginning, some just did it at a younger age and forgot how dumb they used to be too.

Everything I've done to the truck was wrenched by me. From the UCAs, Kings, leaf springs, bumpers, lights, sliders, you name it. If this is the worst thing, I'm probably ok ha.

I'd order the stuff from Toyota. Keep it looking stock. They have all those fancy flange bolts that are so hard to find.

I've had to take my plates off twice now since I originally installed them three yeas ago. I did the same thing (not leaving them out, but taking all out at once). Made some adjustments here and there with the jack. Once I had one in, made some adjustments and got the rest in. The crows foot is a good idea. Perhaps using to small wood blocks for shims to force the direction of the cross member if need be.
That's the thing about being human, we all make mistakes and hopefully learn from it for next time.

I like that you took ownership of the error instead of going dark. This thread may just help someone avoid making the same mistake!

Yup. If we were all brutally honest, there's some shit we've all fucked up. But we learned from it, corrected it and moved on. Weird how the internet forces us to maintain the image of perfection.

You can get the same bolts from fastenal. Difference is, it’ll cost you like $.25 a bolt instead of $20 a bolt from Toyota.

Needed to get a couple for my motorcycle and they were identical down to the markings on the head

Ace has flanges bolts. As does my local bolt supplier, copper state nut and bolt. Home Depot is for cheesy shit. Like a bolt for your lawn mower handle. Lol

I figure I’m no more likely to screw something up than the dealership and I likely pay more attention to the details since it’s MY truck.

Plus with the internet, we are using the same information the dealer is.

Exactly. I just test drove my truck with the regional service manager in my truck. Picked his brain a bit and, to not fault of his own (he has tons of models to keep up with)I know way more about my truck then he ever could.
