Looks good, did you do the interior yourself?

Yes, from the factory the interior is framed with 1 in. tubing similar to this
    IMG_1196.jpg
I insulated it with 1 in styrofoam and then covered it with thin door skin veneer (1/8)

Nice. Very clean and appealing. Is that a propane stove? What do you do for heat inside?

Yes ,it's a Propane stove for cooking ,I have a small portable electric heater and generator if I need heat. On our Yukon trip in September 2017 it was only use twice . Once at nite and the other after our shower a when it was 32 degrees Fahrenheit

This was a year ago. Got the cap for $200. But watch out, this was my 2nd one. The first one, i didnt check the welds and all of them were cracked.

So it seems from research that a cap for a 2nd Gen won't fit quite properly on a 3rd Gen, but I've only seen people saying it doesn't work with fiberglass caps.

Theres a ARE classic aluminum series for sale locally, originally for a 2010 Tacoma access cab. I'm curious if it would work on my 2017 access cab. It's in good shape for a good price I might just go check it out

Finally got my 26" to 32" ARE DCU installed!
My lightly damaged 23" Swiss topper will be up for sale soon if anyone is interested.

Looking forward to a nice build and many nights in my new quarters

AFAIK the back door will not close properly, since the 3rd gen has a lip on tailgate

@kylehorvath if you don’t mind me asking what did pay after install? I’ve been looking around for a shell and I’ve been having a hard time deciding between fiberglass and aluminum. But I like the additional height of yours I guess I missed that on the ARE site.

That's what I'm thinking too. I was hoping the aluminum toppers would be a little more universal than fiberglass. I may stop in to the local ARE dealer and ask them.

ARE makes molded bottoms, and rivets them on according to model. 2nd gen Tacoma just have a flat extension, my work truck has the Ford F250 lip. My buddy put a 2nd gen flippac on his 3rd gen with minimal mods...

Excellent. Are you gonna stick insulation in there, or leave it as is?
I personally would insulate it, for fishing and hunting trips.
