That's the worse BS. how is that even legal. If is leaking is leaking.
What if that oil ends up on my driveway and someone falls? guess who's getting sued.
Lets see how I do tomorrow. .. If they send me home without fixing it. I'll be calling, emailing and filing complains with everyone I can think of. starting with corporate, carcomplaints.com, nhtsa.gov, and the epa.gov. and whoever else I can find. Oh.. and lets not forget the reviews.

Do you know what was different that they didn't take the engine out? all I found so far is that they have to take it out. would really like to avoid that.

Going to where I bough it. in the San Fernando Valley. If they don't fix it. I'm just going to start filing complains. I hate dealing with the dealers.

So I don't think the actual shop manual calls to remove the engine. Removing the engine is easier and quicker so it depends on the tech. Without removing the engine it takes longer. I've also read a cpl post of the cab being removed. Its all up to the tech and dealership I guess.

Ok.. I’ll see if I can get it done that way. I also read the cab removed ones.. that’s just insane.

Yes they did. I use them to do all my warranty work as they are fantastic dealer to work with. I buy my parts from them as well.

So here we go... just got to the dealer. And guess what they have right at the entrance of service.... a Tacoma with the engine bay completely empty. Service guy says it depends on how serious the problem is. Doesn’t make sense to me but we’ll see...

My dealer said they can knock it out in a day without removing much stuff.

They also said it is a very prominent issue on the Tundras as well.

My mistake. I was wondering why you took your Yota to a competing dealership.

Cam towers on the Tundras, same issue with wrong application of FIPG between two metal surfaces. Most dont notice it, but every used one I have looked at are at least seeping. Much bigger job than just the timing cover.

That's what the service director told me yesterday when they called me after my hateful email to them haha.

He said since mine is seeping and not leaking, there is a chance Toyota will deny the claim and I'll just have to suck it up and deal with it...but they'll do everything they can to document it and push for a fix since I am just outside of the factory warranty.

I would be nervous about the quality of work being done if they said they can do it in a day. It is a very labor intensive job with lots of parts needing removal. Took my local dealer a few days for repair. Look up the other threads as some pictures are shown during repair. Its not a simple day job.

It might be if the master tech has done enough of them? :notsure:

I told them the same thing, but I'm doubtful mine will get fixed...it's out of the dealers hands and comes down to Toyota approving it or not.

So.. a day and a half job and they’re not removing the engine. But for whatever reason they don’t do big jobs on Saturday. So I’ll get it back on Tuesday. Now let’s wait and see.
