I should mention that i went from 265/75r16 Falken AT3W SL's to the Toyo's. The Falkens were pretty light and soft compared to the Toyo's.

How'd you like the falken's in that SL rating? From reading on here, it sounds like a fair amount of people have had balancing issues with some of them in that particular size.

I had no issues with them balancing, they rode very nice on the hwy and for all daily use functions. Did two 1000mile trips with several hundred lbs in the bed, made no pressure adjustments and was happy. I switched away from them because i wanted a taller more robust tire and had great previous experience with the Toyo's on my JK. If they made a 255/85r16 in the LT rating I would have gone with them right away and never needed to make a change!

Mine hung out in the bed until I switched tires. Other folks have got them to fit with a little effort.

If anyone is curious, 285/75r16 and not sticking out from the fenders at all.

Upgraded to Cooper ST Maxx 255-85-16s today. I have a 2013 Baja/TX Pro edition with the leveling kit so thought I'd be ok, but there is definite rubbing at full wheel cock. Otherwise still really like them and I guess will have to accelerate the timeframe for a lift. I'm not sure what exactly is rubbing. Maybe a CMC would be enough to get me by for a while and I wouldn't have to spend the money on the lift quite yet.

Also love that this size still fits in the spare area under the bed.

I had 235/85r16's on my 2009 reg cab and they were good to go, no major power loss issues at all. I think you could go larger than that also without issue. The weight of the tire you choose will impact how the truck accelerates. For example I posted above that I had 255's in the old school Cooper ST then swapped out to 255 Toyo MT's which weigh something like 12-14lbs more per tire, I could feel the difference, then when i went to 35's on lightweight rims that weighed nearly the same as the Toyo's on steel rims I felt power loss again due to circumference.

All that said, get the tires you want from the start! I just took off my Falken 265's to put on Toyo's 255's after only 12000km. Nothing wrong with the Falkens but they weren't right for me.

Nice looking truck! You should not need a CMC to run those tires as far as I know. It looks like I see a hidden winch in there? On stock suspension you have likely lost some ride height so that might impact things a little but I would start by taking off the mud flaps as that might be all it is. It also may be possible to get an alignment that increases your caster if it is not maxed out now, but the only way to know that is to put it on the rack and see. Increasing caster by a degree might be enough to create the space you need. But of course get a lift if you want!!!! However even with a lift a bad alignment will cause problems with rubbing.

A quick shot of my truck after the Toyo install a few days ago. Did a 400km hwy drive today and they feel exactly how I remember them... great! The truck has Eibach front stuff and a Toytec (Deaver) single AAL with Boss rear shocks. Need to get that chrome stuff taken care of when all that white stuff around the truck disappears.

They are Cooper Discover S/T's in 255/85/16 on stock wheels with BORA 1" spacers. No rub, not even close with the OME all around. Couldn't be happier.

You're right it is a hidden winch from US Offroad and I didn't consider that I'd lose some clearance with the extra weight. It's the stock Baja suspension so the Bilsteins, whatever upgrade that means over the regular suspension. The mudflaps are Rokblokz and pretty low profile. I haven't been able to see any rub marks on the flaps themselves, that's why I was thinking CMC or lift would be the solution. I was probably due for an alignment anyways and hadn't thought of that fixing the issue. Good first step for sure.

It could also be something simple like heating up some fender plastic and pushing it back a little if possible. I have not had to to that myself but have seen many posts where it is mentioned. I guess once you find the rub you can pick your move!

There is more to it than just running skinny tires. The Toyo's I run are heavy and tall compared to a C rated 285 for example.
