Yeah, that might have been me. Mine were way too soft, especially on the compression side. I did buy them several years ago, so maybe they've updated the standard valving.

Yes I use the 7th but look into the FIC/6 as well.
I have a 2.2, I’d say it’s worth it.
I don’t have inspections.

 

How does one know how much to change the shim stack in shocks? Mine seem to ride just fine. I think the E rated tire hurts my ride quality the most. But if I were to put a new shim stack in I wouldn’t know how to tell what would need to be done to get a better ride or if what I have now is as good as it’s gonna get.

 

A few vendors here has said that ADS uses a progressive compression and digressive rebound. I was also told by MCM and ADS that there is a small flutter stack on the compression. Looking at the stack it looked like a standard stack to me but when I asked Filty Motorsport I was told you can’t just look at it and tell which makes sense, you’d have to measure them. But I thought for sure I’d be able to see a flutter stack by looking at images online.

 

I'm not a shock tuner. I took them to my buddy and he measured what was in there and changed it based on that and my feedback. I was in the bumps constantly offroad. Not nearly enough compression valving for me.

That's an internet rumor. Mine had a standard progressive piston for both compression and rebound. There was a small flutter shim on the compression side. IIRC most of the stack was .006" shims. I think we went with some combo of .012s and .015s with a thicker flutter shim too. Significant improvement, now I just need more rebound too.

 

Mine seem a tad soft. But haven't really used them yet. Will see.

Thats the black magic of shock tuning. Lot of experiance and trail and error.

Backed the truck out of the garage and idled for a minute then died. No sputtering or anything, acted as if the ignition was turned off. Now it won't restart. Clutch start cancelled it back into the garage (can't do that with an auto) and it sputtered once or twice but now nothing.

Just when I thought everything was fixed... any suggestions. Diving into the fsm now. I'm thinking it's not getting fuel. Just put a new fuel pump in 100 miles ago. Hopefully that isn't the problem.

 

Hope this works. I remember back when I had my 97 4runner I used a large metal hose clamp to hold it in place but it only held for 5 miles and slipped off...

 

It's all in my old house in Oakland cracking and falling off of the HVAC ducting in the basement. We actually wrapped most of it with the rolls of pink insulation and then duct taped it all together - a little for insulation, but mostly to contain the asbestos when we hit our heads on the ducting walking around in the basement.

I always laugh when people complain about Prop 65. Similar people that complain about how much better leaded gasoline was. Totally ignoring the negative impacts on the health of everyone, especially children. On the flip side, I agree that some prop 65 things are a bit ridiculous by having to have a label for just containing small amounts of the known cancer causing chemicals... Here in Colorado, Lucky's grocery store sells a bag of ginger snap cookies that have a label NOT FOR SALE IN CALIFORNIA. I just have to laugh because I know why and how they are avoiding the more scary prop 65 label.

Im installing my new clutch fork and throw out bearing and it seems strange that the throw out bearing just sits against the fork, is it supposed to be oriented a certain way? Whats the purpose of the clip?

I am a HAZMAT Coordinator for the DoD, I'm pretty sure I know all about the dangers of hazardous materials. But Kalifornistan makes it to easy to make fun of them!!!

 

On the up side it’s been great for lawyers. Sue the fuck out of everyone. That’ll keep it clean.
