Now thats a story you lead with. You got inseminated by Prince. 3 days later, 24 men, women, and children spontaneously gave birth around the greater St Louis area. :alien:

It's allegedly a myth... I am here to tell you it is not a myth. We know quite a few people in this situation who never paid attention until we said something to them. They have now been watching more closely and it is a confirmed phenomenon. Depending on the full moon... it can be 3 to 7 days of muddy water.

That's the kind of country I like. My stepdad, who came into my life just after I graduated High School, took me to see David Allen Coe at Billy Bob's. My first country show. Hank Jr., Waylon, Willie Nelson, George Jones etc. When I 'm in that mood nothing else satisfies!

On a weekend camp trip with coworkers, one thought it would be a good idea to turn up d.a.c's Underground Album and have a campfire sing along. Amongst coworkers of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds. It did not go over well.

Hey is it too late for another concert story? Okay then. "Names have been changed to protect the (not so) innocent."

I grew up in a small town outside of Wichita, Ks. In the summer of '75 two buddies of mine, whom we will call Gary and Don for the purposes of this story, and I, scored tickets to see the Rolling Stones and the Eagles at Arrowhead Stadium in KC, about 3 1/2 hours away. Don and I worked days while Gary, who's car we were planning to take worked 2nd shift and didn't get off til 1AM. Don and I would have been wise to catch a few hours sleep before meeting Gary but instead we spent the evening at the local pool hall and drinking establishment. At any rate, a little after 1AM Gary picked us up and we headed off to KC, trailing:rasta: smoke all the way and arriving around 4:30AM. Don and I snoozed a bit on the way but didn't get much real sleep. When we got to KC we stopped at some greasy spoon for a quick breakfast and then pulled into the stadium lot as the sun was coming up thinking we could catch a few zees before the gates open up around noon.

Well, trying to sleep in a car, in an asphalt parking lot, in July in KC while surrounded by 10's of thousands of noisy rock and roll fans is pretty well impossible so we just :rasta: and waited for the show to start. There were a couple of forgettable opening acts before the Eagles and the Stones came on so we dozed a bit through them but again no real sleep.

The Eagles and the Stones were great; the concert wound down around 11PM and with Gary driving we fought the outgoing traffic and headed for home. After being up for around 36 hours with only a couple of cat-naps it's gonna be a long trip. Just as we get out of the metro area, Gary pulls over and says he's done, can't go any farther and someone else will have to drive. Don takes over with me riding shotgun and Gary sound asleep in the back seat. About the time we get to Topeka Don pulls into a rest area and says he's done, we can sleep here til morning and get back on the road then.

Now all I want to do is sleep for about 18 hours at this point but the last thing I want is for some cop to come along and find three long hairs, asleep in an old Dodge on the side of the road, full of contraband and reeking of pot smoke, so I crawl behind the wheel and head on down the Kansas Turnpike. And that's the last thing I remember until...

Don is a tall guy with long legs and at some point he rolls to one side and his left knee knocks the column shift down into low, causing the car to decelerate rapidly, engine screaming and waking me up, terrified, to see about a quarter mile ahead the turnpike toll booth which I am about to enter at a high rate of speed while sound asleep. I have just driven from Topeka to Emporia, a distance of about 60 miles, while sleeping. I'm wide awake now though so I get the car and myself under control, stop at the booth and nonchalantly pay the toll and motor on home without further incident.

    Sheesh, TL;DR
If your gonna smoke pot (I haven't for mare than 30 years now) or go without sleep for extended periods, DON'T GET BEHIND THE WHEEL OF A CAR! It's a miracle I didn't kill us all and/or other innocent bystanders that night.
