Well I've done lots of reading and learned lots from this site so thanks for that! A couple months ago I decided to buy myself a taco. Its an 02 double cab TRD and I'm loving the truck. There was one hesitation when I bought it...it has a rebuilt title and its a US truck and I'm up here in Canada. After checking it all out I couldn't say no! What great shape. Anyway, long story short after doing lots of reading on the frame recall all the information I got was that the frame wouldn't be covered because its rebuilt. After searching the VIN for all the recalls I decided to contact my local dealer in the hopes that I would at least get the lower ball joint recall covered. Well after a couple weeks of waiting I finally heard back and not only are they covering the ball joints, but the fuel line protector (?!?) AND the frame recall. Its goes in next Thursday AND i get a courtesy vehicle for 2 days "to start with" is direct quotes so I'm assuming as long as they have the truck I'll have the courtesy vehicle. I'm so excited! The frame is good but at least I get the 15 year warranty now!
Anyway, long story, just thought I would share and always inquire, you never know!

What year does the lower ball joints cover? I've gone to that toyota recall website and enter my VIN, only the frame recall appears. I have a 04 ext cab trd.

    thanks.

not sure what years they cover the ball joint issue. i did the same thing on the toyota website and thats where i seen it. as far as the 2 days i assume thats for the frame issue. probably 2 days to apply the coating if the frame passes and then probably more if they need to swap it.

I think it was 01-04 but not sure. Ask your dealer to check if it was already done.

i went to that site to check to see if i qualify for any recalls but ya need to register before you can check anything. they ask for your U.S. address and U.S. info which obviously i dont have being a canuck and all. my trucks american made but im not. maybe im S.O.L in being able to check to see if i qualify for any recalls.

I never registered, i just put the VIN in and it showed outstanding recalls listed. I used a link to the site posted in this forum somewhere...can't seem to find it. I'm in canada with a US truck so same situation as you. Where are you in NB by the way? I'm in Moncton.

just so I am clear... If you put your vin in at this website & it comes back saying, 'There are no open Special Service Campaigns or Safety Recalls on your vehicle'...that means that these recalls (ball joints & frame) have already been done???

sorry...just wanting to be sure as I am going to look at a used 03 Taco at lunch & I just typed it's vin onto that site & got that response.

    thx!

yeah, i typed mine in and it came up something about the frame, it wasnt a new one, it was something about some kind of spray or whatever, so i called them anyway and they said to bring it in bc it was eligable...until i told them it was a rebuild lol
