Hey Dave! Mine does the same thing. Truck just turned 5 months old but I noticed it the 2nd week I owned it. Mine is documented as they had my truck for 2 hours. I had to point the noise out to them though because they could not get it to sound off. LOL!

Glad my truck is not the only one with this issue. Now I won't let it bother me as much.

Yeah Everett, I'm not sure what it is, & it's weird that it just started making that noise out of nowhere. Not that it's loud, but it is noticeable. Could just be that I've had to fix my Jeep all the time, so every new little noise sticks out to me, lol. Strange that the dealer just blew it off & told you to "drive it".

Yeah he said he realized a new truck should not make that noise but we had it up on the rack and torqued everything we thought the noise could be coming from. Even took it out in the parking lot with the hood up and a service tech on each side listening but could not pinpoint the noise. We have it documented that you brought the truck in for this noise. (It is on my Toyota Owners web site page so I know it is documented) It is not a safety issue so just drive it and if the sound gets louder or more frequent make another appointment to bring it in. So I'm going to drive it.

I thought for my 6 month check up I may make a appointment with another dealer 97 miles from me and see if they may know what the noise is. I have to get a set of locking lug nuts 1st because they are not going to rotate my tires with my truck having less than 1600 miles on it. They can just raise the hood and let a little light in but they are not laying a impact on my lug nuts. Been thinking about skipping the 6 month check-up anyhow.

Hopefully it's not too big of a deal. Well, if you figure something out, keep me posted, & I'll do the same. I'd appreciate it. Good luck, dude.

If it were mine, I would take the calipers off and lube the pad ears, caliper slides, and piston face and see what that does. Sounds like something is not moving smoothly.

I would do the same to help try to eliminate that being the problem. But that noise doesnt really sound like pad slap to me. Sounds more like a shifting suspension piece due to a bad bushing. Unfortunately there shouldnt be any bad bushings on a new truck. So I'm going to guess shocks. Whether top plate/spring issue or bushing. Good luck....curious to see what it winds up being if anyone ever figures it out.

Made an appointment for Thursday at the dealer. Hopefully a tech can diagnose it. I don’t need them to fix it, but sometimes it’s easier to let them find it instead of me tearing everything apart for no reason. I’ll update after I know more for sure!

FWIW my truck made a weird clicking at random, especially over bumps. Ended up being a loose cab mount nut.

That's too loud for it to be brake pad shift. I like everyone else had it. It was more profound when backing up with the wheels turned. This sounds more like loose body mounts.

Buy two brake pad clips and add them on the bottom side. That will fix the whole floating problem. Everyone with a Taco has had this issue until they replaced the brake pads and reused the old clips with the new clips.

Due to the motion in your second video I have 2 ideas of what it could be.

    1. Ball joints in your UCAs are going bad (if you have aftermarket UCAs)

    1. Maybe your sway bar links aren’t torqued all the way or are going bad

Winner winner!! I went out under the truck today because I have an appointment with the dealership tomorrow and wanted to take my skid plates off (didn’t want to hear anything about how they couldn’t find it because they’re not able to touch aftermarket parts). I checked everything previously mentioned in this thread, shock top hat, sway bar links, etc. I was ready to put the tires back on and I decided to reread this thread because I had a feeling I forgot something. I checked the body mount bolts (the ones close to the front mud flap), and sure enough the drivers side was loose! Tightened it all up and the sound is fixed! Going to drive it to work tomorrow and will cancel my appointment at the dealer. Thanks to the two of you majorly!

Had my truck in for the 10,000 mile service, (only have 3400 on the clock) today. Service manager looked at my truck himself and told me it is the ABS system. He said when the speed reaches 3mph or so the system makes the pop or clunk as I call it. The system goes to sleep when the key is off then boots back up after you start the truck and after it reaches whatever speed, 3mph it will pop/clunk when you 1st drive off. I just never realized it done it pulling straight forward or backward until he showed me. He sounded like he knew what he was talking about so I'm fine with it.

I know this is an old thread but just wanted to throw my 2 cents in my truck has done the same noise since almost new and I’ve Asked 2 different times at my dealership and they must be programmed to say the same thing that it’s just brake pad shift And to live with it! Which I pretty much have but some days it seems awfully louder then others! Just annoying to me if anybody finds a fix let me know

I've been having a similar sound come from my 2018 for the last 2 months or so. It's audible going over bumps, turning while going over bumps and if I rock the truck side to side. I've got a Bilstein 3 inch lift with SPC UCAs. I thought it was the front body mount bushings (pic below). They were pretty roached so I thought for sure that was the issue. But once I got them in place and torqued, I rocked the truck side to side and the noise is still there. It sounds like it's coming from directly under the engine, and the only component I can think of that is affected by flex is the front differential (cv axles?). I have driven the truck in 4wd once a month for 10 miles like the manual suggests, but today I put it in 4LO and there was a medium to low level howling sound. I guess I'll have to take it in and see what the dealership says

How do you check that the bushing is bad. I have the same issue/sound with my 2022 trd sport. 2,000 miles on it as of this month. The sound only happen when first taking off in the morning. One way to replicate the sound is let the truck sit for like 5 min then back up and turn. I took it to the dealership and had them look at it. They blamed it on a hitch, i replicated the sound with the hitch off and then the tech blamed it on the transmission pushing power to the front end?????? did not make sense to me. soooo now im here looking through every forms to find the problem/solution.
