HI, name's Chase. I want to get a truck. I have boiled it down to a Toyota Tacoma because it is just the right size and (from what I am told) can last a verry long time.

I came to this website about a week ago while still searching for the right truck and kept it in mind if I were to get a Tacoma. Now that I know what I want and I'm looking for a little help.

-What are the difference in packages?

-Looking for good price ranges for a 2007 and below.

    -Prerunner... yes ..no?

I am mainly going to use it as a to and from work truck. I will occasionally use it to haul lumber, tools, sheetrock..etc. Maybe help someone move but mostly just me going to work. I might want to take it out and have some fun in it every once in a while.

Any and all advice will be helpfull. I plan on searching/buying around the first of September. Thank you for your time and I hope I gave enough info on my useage for the truck.:D

PLUS: Can some one lead me in the right direction in the forums of some more interesting Tacoma stuff please!:)

sounds like a TRD Off Road Pre-Runner would suit you unless you planned on using the 4wd

Is there any major hurt in gas mileage if I get the 4wd?

I have a Prerunner Sport and it's been great. I don't do a lot of off roading, mostly logging roads and stuff like that and it's been a great truck. I think a Prerunner is a nice set up. I haul lumber, camp gear, firewood and scuba gear with no problems. I also got the tow package and it's pretty nice.

it really depends on how you drive/what type of driver you are. but my 4wd gets about 17-18mpg average (with 265/75's), and most prerunners can get around 22-25mpg (with 245/65's i think). also, just a basic stock tacoma can get 30+mpg if you drive pretty conservatively

Tow Limit with the Tow Package is 6500. I've never towed anything that heavy with it though.

    Jester,
Welcome to TW. Since I see you have the USAF logo you can get a good price on a new Taco from USAA so don't overlook the few 2010s left. I was in the AF from 1961 to 1965.
