To Paint or Not to Paint..

Should I paint em black?

I agree, radio looks great, cup holder could be a little different.

 

if you're doing that paint the vent surounds too. I think just the radio plate black looks re-tarded

Yeah but then I'd have to do the knob surrounds in the climate control part, and they've got graphics on them that would be covered. And that's no good. I'll do a more straight on mock up of the radio panel only with different variations of what will and won't be black tomorrow.

it would look ok, and wouldn't mind if mine was black. but i would be scared i'd mess it up

 

My brother just painted his door panels, and every piece of trim in his Nissan Sentra today. Looks great. He did black and red. Now I am really thinking about painting mine.

 

The problem with painting interior pieces is.... they're painted. They look great at first... then you scratch it and it looks terrible... I can't say I haven't been tempted to paint some stuff myself (and probably will paint the surround on the window/door lock trims on the doors), but I kinda worry about the overall finish of it.

I'd be worried that it would look like shit in a year .

 

as with all painting it's all in the prep work to make sure the paint sticks so it don't scratch off super easy , and putting a bunch of coats on + clear coat helps it too , I've had plastic pieces I've painted take some heavy abuse and look fine , i still worry about pieces that get touched a lot though

 

Clear coat the crap out of it. thats what I'd do. Try to protect it. and be gentle. I clear coated my roll bar and it have banged crap around on that and metal on metal, wood, you name it its been back there and it still isnt scratched up. The rust has pushed through from the bottom in some spots. but that's it. very little scratches if any. How many scratches are on your bare plastic already?

 

I got scratches on the plastic , but it's the same colour in the scratches as the surface , I would worry that if you painted black over silver , all of the scratches would be really obvious .
