MPG on a 3rd Gen 4 banger

I have 400+ extra lbs on my truck, so a little over 25 seems to be my high now.

27.1 was my best tank, and you can look at an entire year of fuelly data in my sig. The better tanks were done utilizing basic hypermiling techniques and doing about 60mph in 5th on the flats.

 

So far I’ve never gotten better that 25 mpg on the hwy, using cruise and never going over 2k rpms.

 

Sorry bro. Shoulda done your home work first. Like I told my co worker who bought a 4 banger for mpg. The v6 gets better gas 18-24 vs your 19/23 and 119 more HP to boot. The 4 banger is a waste of space

 

Yeah, you’re probably right.
During the summertime the best I’ve gotten is 25 mpg hwy, cruise control at 70 mph. Ideal conditions - no wind and level ground.
During the cool temps the mileage goes down.
This 2017 is a nice pickup, but my 2012 4 banger is the best Tacoma I ever had - 27 mpg.

 

Sorry bro. Didn’t mean to come off rude. I’m more upset with TOYOTA for not offering much better mileage for those who opted for the 4banger

 

There’s so much incorrect in this, your coworker is better off never listening to you about anything.

On average, the I4 gets better MPGs.

Explain what your research has shown as to why the I4 is a waste and the v6 isn’t. In your words.

TOYOTA .com says what I posted for 3rd gen engine specs and mpg. Older models I don’t have a clue homeboy. But from my co workers data on his eco screen and mine and what TOYOTA says and the link you never followed. 3rd gen v6 is 1 less city 1 better highway and hp is over 100 higher. Why do you think every review know to man say run from the 3rd gen 4 and get the 6. The 4 has to work hard to move that heavy. Truck.
