Looks like a nice unit but a little over engineered for its intended purpose. In my opinion a molded compartment with a steel lid would suffice. I would also rather have the compartment be solid and relocate the jack.

I just took the time to read this entire post, and I have to say that I'm a bit saddened that it has seemingly died off. I really think that there is still a market for this product, but the marketing just needs to be done right. Once I save up my "coke can money" I am definitely hoping that I will still be able to order this for my Taco.

I got the rear seat box last Christmas. I padded the drivers side and it fits my handguns, mags and ammo well. If I take the jack out, my AR doesn’t fit well at all.

I break my AR in half (Separate the upper from the lower) when I store it...

Can someone post a picture of a hunting rifle with scope on it in a 2nd gen double cab if it is even possible? I'd like to know the overall length of your rifle too.

I'll be honest, I don't think you can fit a hunting rifle with a scope on it in the under-the-seat vault...I have one in the Double Cab Tacoma (2016. I carry an MP5k (with the lower and stock detached), two handguns (Glock 27 and a Glock 23, all my mags, ammo and a shorty (8") AR15 (But I have to take it apart - Separate the upper from the lower) with an EOTECH on it...You would have to play around with it...

Interested as well. Especially as a gun/rifle/ammo/tie down hiding point. Oh double cab by the way

I am interested in one for a 2017 double cab.... but was hoping it was just a bit larger than the factory storage box

I think the space is the space. I don’t know how they could fit anything bigger. It will fit my AR if I break it down. I really just wanted to secure my Glocks, mags, and some ammo. It’s perfect for that.

The floor and the seat doesn’t really allow it to be bigger. I think most buy it for the security..... at least that’s why I bought it.

How secure is the unit? The Tuffy products can be pried open with a screw driver in 2 seconds. I know this unit will be some what limited in security but can anyone tell me how hard it would be to break in? Has anyone had an car break in incident where the product held them off and didn't get broken into? thanks!

Is it possible to just install the lids for this product (or does anyone know of a company that sells lockable metal lids for a third gen? I like having my underseat cabinet plastic instead of metal, that way things won’t make as much rattling noise while I’m driving, like having metal tools clinking on a metal cabinet. Also I would be afraid of the metal cabinet scrtaching anything I put in there, especially my guns, because metals slick and things will definitely slide around. I really want this product and I’m so close to buying it but I don’t want to have to line my cabinet with some sort of padding which would also make me loose precious space.

Not possible to attach the lids to the plastic bins. I lined mine with a adhesive backed sponge neoprene that was 1/8” thick which was a tedious process but works great (never hear anything shift)and I didn’t notice any loss of space. The plastic bins also allow things to slide around easily so at the least putting something on the bottom is needed if you’re just throwing loose tools in there. I don’t know of any locking lids for the 3rd gen, maybe someone else can chime in with a suggestion
