Lots of people have them. I have them. They are a solid product. I had over 4 degrees of caster before the alignment tech dialed them back a bit to 2.8. The moog ball joint is hard as nails and very strong. The down side is that they are really only designed for about 2” of lift (some people have been able to use them with 3” of lift while one forum member has not). The SPCs are adjustable (if the tech knows how to adjust them) and can accommodate more lift. The ball joint is replaceable, but IMHO does not seem to be as strong and may wear out faster.

Many threads on this, but for the sake of the question it depends what your use of the truck is going to be. Are you using it off road or on the pavement? And are you willing to do regular maintenance on the uniball to prevent damage and pitting?

I used the Camburgs on my second gen with my icon stage one lift I had. Worked great for the ~2” lift I had. I went with these for the ball joint and not having to worry about finding someone who could figure out how to adjust the SPCs.

how much lift do you have with your UCAs?

i just saw on the product description that it. accommodates up to 3” of lift so i don’t get why it was mentioned someone couldn’t use it for 3” of lift

SPCs benefit is that it will be low maintenance since the joint is not exposed to the elements and you will be able to maintain proper alignment specs on your vehicle.

The benefit to the TC UCAs will be that you get to maintain proper alignment specs and they are better off-road as you will get an additional 1” of travel in your suspension allowing for better contact with the ground. However you will have to clear and clear the uniball regularly to avoid pitting of the uniball.

And to address your other question. Many in TW community recommend not going above 2.75 lift as it may lead to harsh angles of the CV joint and excessive wear leading to early failure.

There was one TW member who had a 3” lift and didn’t/couldn’t get a proper positive caster out of Camburg UCAs with the moog joint. Others however did just fine. But he was very vocal about it, so much so that now many people caution using Camburg UCAs with the moog joint on lifts over 3”. I will say that Bilstein ran Camburg UCAs on their trucks that they ran through the desert on the way to SEMA without problem. And Camburg has a solid reputation few can match. Finally, IMHO, SPCs are for mall monsters. They get you numbers you need to run big lifts (3”-6”) but those are not necessarily great off-road UCAs. They use a plastic/nylon seat on their mood style ball joint while everyone else uses steel. Uniballs like upper end Camburg and Total Chaos UCAs really are for more racing. They need to be cleaned every 3,000 miles and replaced every 15,000-30,000 miles —just like any other parts on a race truck. Some guys get more mileage, but not like you’d get from a moog joint. In the end, it has a lot to do with what you want out of your truck.

SPC has more articulation than most Uniballs giving more droop travel.. but probably not by much an extra 6° in either direction.. look at their video.. the use a TC upper to compare..

So Ive been reading up on this, will be finally buying some UCAs to correct my alignment issues. I was going to go with the Camburgs but now the "might not work with a 3" lift"has me worried they wont work. I like the camburgs design more than the SPCs or the UCAs from Light Racing, but if they wont fix the problem no sense in getting them. What's the verdict to for the safe side?

What about JBAs...I hear nothing but good things about those UCAs. Better than SPC and Camburg?

They are nice and beefy looking, however they dont offer much info on any alignment correction. Also, from a budget point of view the SPCs look more appealing to be honest.

Interesting thread. I was figuring on using the Icon delta joint when I lift my 3rd gen, then possibly on the wife`s 2nd gen even though it drives fine with 2.5" lift and stock UCA. I`m just curious how or if it will be different with some added caster, my alignment guy give me the readout and only one side was slightly out of spec on caster. If it seems better I`ll eventually change her UCA`s out too.

yea i went with the SPCs for price and the fact that the camburgs were a “maybe” since i knew i was going to be closer to 3” up front

My vote is for SPC, just finding the right tech who is willing to work w them can be difficult. And with 3” on a second gen you really should be fine w any UCA.

I went with SPCs. With your truck lifted 3" your going to have to take it to a 4X4 shop to get it aligned. Most likely (if they have much experience) they have worked with SPCs before. Be sure to get the SPCs with grease fittings and keep them greased. Then find you a fancy decal and stick it on them and your good to go.
I got mine from Filthy Motorsport. Same guy (Ben) as in the video above ^^^ will answer your questions and sell them to you at a competitive price.
