Why is that? I thought OVT has all the latest factory tune improvements.
My truck is a 18, A7000 calibration. I’ve tried, no dealer around here will do the update. 2018 MT is not listed on any TSB.

Speaking from the Bosch world, there is the firmware which is the actual control system, sorta like Windows. And then there are the "look up tables" which is the "calibration" tables, sorta like updating Word only. When you write the entire ecu, you are writing the firmware and the tables. We did did both, so when we'd tune a Mercedes for instance. We'd Alwys get the latest "both" so when the dealer would connect for guided fault finding or something, they would not write over the tune. That was the functionality of our tuning tools. Others, allow for different flexibility.

It's listed under calibration information but under applicability, it only specifies 6AT.

Yes and that’s the problem, AT. Toyota has these dealers scared to think on their own.

I have no idea....all that stuff was in my previous life. I don't follow what they do here really. I can only speak about what CMD Tech did some years ago. If we wanted the latest updates, there was a forum for professionals to get the lastest updates from manufacturers.

It was noted by Mat somewhere (either a thread or on his site) that folks should upgrade to the latest Toyota tune as a baseline.

Everyone's tunes are base off of what is currently loaded in the ECU.

I am sure that Mat can say it better than me, but starting with 04A71 is going to make the tune better?

Is anyone's truck reverting back to before the flash? "unlearning" so to speak?

not here. every tune i've loaded has stayed solid, and many of them have improved a lot in the first few days of driving. but some have reported some bad behavior returning, but not totally back to stock behavior.

Ok thanks. I have intermittent 1st and 2nd gear surging, just want to be sure i'm not wasting my time taking it to the dealer just to have it return.

just keep in mind that as far as we're all seeing, so many of these trucks show different outcomes. the ECUs& base calibrations were changing each model year. it has appeared to most of the MT crowd here that trucks before and up to calibration 04B12, mostly up to MY '17, got predictable results from the update, which upgrades calibration to 04B13.

what info do you have on your truck? do you know your ECU version?

No clue what’s on my truck or how to check. It’s a 16 and I’d imagine it’s never been reflashed

that's probably good news for you since the upgrade on @MOC221_ 's truck helped more than anything before that. he has a 16 and has relearning issues, but i think going to 04B13 was the most helpful step ... Frank care to comment?

I'll put in my quarter...im still looking to figure if Frank's is older than mine or not. We're both 9/15. Both B10.

Since flashing B13, it's still better than factory. I wanna say it hasn't regressed, but there are some areas that it's still a bit skitzo, but in places it wasn't skitzo before.

I should just pony up for OV. I've got all the hardware for it
