Yeah, I definitely think a custom tune for tires and gears is going to be fanfingtastic! I will probably give the base tune a try. I think my son only downloaded the 91 performance on the laptop though, so he will have to download the others , I guess. Not sure exactly how that all works.

Do most of you email for the Reg key before the ovtune package comes in the mail? I know they are backed up on orders so it’ll be a little while until I get it. Or does it not matter when lol

Yes. Download the flash manager, then follow the instructions. And send request for your Reg. Key.
I happened to get it the same day that I got my kit. Worked out great.

On Toyflash to get the system ID everything is blanked out. In the instructions it’s not. There still a System ID though. Just wondering if I should be concerned . I sent the email with the system ID I saw. Just tripped me out because of the difference.B0A87AC0-2367-4121-899F-2974B50C567A.jpg

Also I think you have to plug in the tactrix cable before it shows up in that field.

Yes. Until you get your kit and plug in your cable, that will be blank.

You are as far as you can go without your kit. Everything will be easy and fast when you get it and your registration key.

I've been on base 87 (fully stock truck, AT) for two tanks of gas, it's 99% perfect for me except one little nit-pick, like since day 1 with this truck, once it is warmed up, only around town, it dumps the rpm too low (in my case 1100rpm) and lugs along. Whatever speed you want to maintain, 35mph, 45mph, 50 even 55mph, as soon as you want to just maintain a speed it drops and cruises you at 1100rpm. You can accelerate up to any of these speeds just fine (especially if you put your foot into it), but the moment you let off the accelerator it dumps it down to 1100rpm. Fine for a Harley, but this torque lacking engine is useless at 1100rpm, at the rpm it slowly loses speed, so you end up pushing on the accelerator and it immediately bumps the rpm up to around 1700 (which is awesome), but then it immediately goes back to 1100. I would propose for future tunes (or as soon as I can custom tune), make all cruising rpms at least 1700? or even 1800? like the freeway speed rpms are perfect; 70mph = 1800rpm, 75mph = 1900rpm and 80mph = 2000rpm. If 1100 rpm was intentional for fuel economy, my guess, though not an expert, is cruising at 1700rpm light on the throttle would actually be better fuel economy than cruising at 1100rpm heavy on the throttle and downshifting every 2 minutes. Again, no complaints! This is just a nit-pick for perfection, as-is this tune was the only thing that kept me keeping this truck, so kudos to Matt. Cheers!

The stock tune does this, and the base 87 or 91 tunes basically seem to copy that for MPG purposes. The performance tunes unfortunately still try to run at a super low RPM like this as well. IMO the performance tunes should be keeping the RPMs at no less than 2000 for any type of driving scenario. At least at 2000 RPM there is a bit of torque available so the transmission doesn't need an immediate downshift to get itself moving.

Try a performance tune with the gear lock option. Gear lock allows you to basically pick the correct gear for the situation and keep the rpm in the 1500-2000 range.
