In process of repairing broken rivets and replacing bedside... little tid bit I was not aware of... the front of hab is not bolted down, the 6 bolts on the sides are what holds it to truck, the bolts in the front aren't connected to main habitat body. Im guessing there is a reason for this it just came as a surprise to me.

I'm opting to change out the hardware that was used by AT on the bed rails in favor of some standard t nuts with 3/8 grade 8 hardware. Will be putting 4 in instead of the current 3. I just figure it will make things easier in the future maintenance department, I will keep an eye on things to monitor the change for sure.... as of right now the bolts aren't threading back in all that easily at all, as well as the fact that all of the current ones have rusted pretty bad.


If someone has the time can you measure the inside dimension at the bed rails of the habitat? At the front and at the rear would be great. Im curious as when I set mine back down after making the rivet repairs (and before bolting to bed rails) it seems a little narrower.

Another note, removing the habitat was very simple, no tricks or anything just like a standard topper. Unbolt the 6 siderail nuts, and undo the brake light plug, and it lifts right off.

I have rear stiffeners installed, and am in process of figuring a good way to mount the ATH corner gussets. Ill post some updates when I get them installed. Don't want anymore worries of splaying.

Weird is right. I woulda had the same response on prices if he said he was selling or looking to buy. Anyhow, most of us on here already have a Habitat so not a big difference to us.

Not sure these measures are what you want, measured with original angle aluminum in place, at corner of angle, front 56 and 7/16, rear 56 and 3/16.

If i recall that front strip was a replacement for OEM, just so a sealing strip could be placed between bed and habitat.
i just got my set of additional aluminum angle sections with four bolt and nuts, for additional hold down.
The nuts are square and to my opinion should be rectangular and twice as long as wide. I can see why one nut is rotating inside the track.

Yep I believe we are talking about same measurements, thanks for that.. that's odd with the habitat unbolted it's coming it at under 56"..... I guess I'll just bolt it back in and see if it pulls itself out a little to match the bed rails.

That makes sense about the front rail just being for a seal.

The t nuts are rectangular and really fit snug in there no worries about them spinning. Also I'm pretty sure the 3/8 grade 8 is plenty to hold the hab down considering the aluminum angle would surely give before them, going to use some nice thick washers too.


Yeah I cut 2 pieces of 2x4 about 6 inches taller than the habitat, I just unbolted the whole thing, and stood in the bed, liftend one side and slid the 2x4s in to hold it up while I worked.

 

I'm unfamiliar with the "T-nuts" I think.. round things with three prongs to pull into wood?

 

Negative... They are purpose built nuts that fit into bed rails:

Not to sure of what you've "heard". We take customer service seriously and make ourselves accessible to customers questions via email, phone, IG messenger, FB messenger, text etc. If you haven't spoken with us directly, please do. Habitats have gone through many improvements in the same way that vehicles have their generational changes from year to year. To date we have built 224 of them. The biggest issue we had with Habitats was related to tent fabric stretch that enlarged the seam stitch needle holes slightly, enough to leak. We sent out remedy kits to all those impacted and have replaced tent that would not respond to the remedy. That fabric was replaced early last year and the stretch problem has all but disappeared. ..finally got this to happen. awkward position to use a saws-all, but did, took several hours, chewed up the aluminum-angle side pretty good, no worry there tho. next step try to unscrew two other bolts and remove aluminum-angle and replace or modify bed track

 

That doesn't look fun... Luckily all of mine came out easily. Replaced them all with grade 8 3/8 hardware, and added another per side, as well as the front corner gussets
