So your gusset is mounted to the bed rail through the habitat mount? Looks good!

Yes, it is mounted through the habitat into the bed rail on the side, the front I had to get a piece of angle iron and bolt it to the front rail, then welded on some nuts for the corner gussets. No more worries about habitat walls splaying.

Had I not stumbled upon the Flippac I'd be whoring out body parts for a Habitat.

Yeah, believe me I was not stoked on shelling out 9k. I was in the market for a flippac but they were all either beat to Sh*t or ~5k$, at that point it was easy to shell out a few more thousand for a habitat. I honestly like the fact the flippacs fold forward, and also the bed is bigger.

the trade-off is really all about the tent design... The Habitat tent is far superior to that of the Flippac...

I'm working with a company in NY to develop an upgraded tent that would be equivalent to the Nemo one on the Habitat. No more need for the SLO rainfly.

I spent 3 days in the flippac last week and that was really the only annoying part of the setup.

Once I solve for that I believe it will be on the same level as the Habitat.

    Time will tell...

When AT installed my habitat they asked me if I wanted the big aluminum angle brackets or if I wanted to keep access to the stock railing. Since I mount so much to the railing I wanted to keep that accessible. Overall I think the clamps are a cleaner solution and still having access to the c channel is awesome for securing contents. Four clamps on each side and then front of the habitat was bolted thru in each corner into the aluminum angle that replaced the stock front of our Tacoma beds. I have had zero movement side to side or front to back with it attached to the truck this way.

Where did you source the clamps?

..i have not been missing the bedrails, but making some changes, and just ordered a set of clamps.
i got a small obstruction to get past yet. before sawing the button head off, the nut would rotate in the track, not tightening nor loosening. this has to be removed before any other clamp-nut or T-nut can be placed.

Drill it out if you can’t slide it out. That’s the only not thing I can think of. I have to remove the rail mount bolts and the end cap to get the nuts past anyway.

I installed my habitat and had to remove the rails a few times to mount things including molle bed side panels. It’s tedious.

any idea on tool choice to remove those T30 screws that hold the C-channel utility rail? i've had the milwaukee T30 bits just crumble with arm torque with breaker bar

Dang, Were you using the security bits? There should be two different types of torque bit for t30, one has a hole in the center of the bit, the other solid. Make sure you are using a solid one first... I use 1/4 inch makita impact for basically everything around this size, if you don't have a li-ion 1/4 impact I highly recommend picking one up. I had no issues with any one mine and I removed all of them last week
