The clamp method can't defeat a cold chisel....

Close fit exhaust tubing ring is a little more secure for a little more effort. Take off the hinge to fit it . Couple of Bucks at 0'Reilly's

Fill the Torx drive holes with JB weld to stop tools. Anything that frustrates a thief usually makes them pass it up.

    Christian06,

I’m interested in buying one of these for my 2015 TRD Sport. How do I go about it?

    Thanks.

I feel your pain. My white Tacoma had its tailgate stolen a couple of years ago. I'm still pissed about it, because I had a hose clamp on it too. Now I have a Pop N Lock tailgate handle, a washer cable mod, and a Sabellco tailgate clamp.

Damn, sorry to hear about your tailgate. I did the same. Pop and Lock manual lock and Sabellco hinge lock. I also put some epoxy glue on the allen head. I live near Philadelphia where they steal anything that isn't nailed down. I know nothing is fool proof, but if I can slow them down a little maybe they'll move on to the next. Good luck with the replacement.

I found it a pain in the ass to get on also. I put some grease on the hinge and it slid right on.

I think I measured 1-5/8" pretty exactly. I was hoping to find something with a little more ass than parts store repair tubing personally, hence why I got the Sabellco. Trying to find a small chunk of actual structural tubing with the right I.D. was almost as much.

I greased the O-rings pretty good and it definitely didn't slide right on. But whatever, not like you even need to take it off the cup to remove your tailgate, I don't care if a one-time install is a PITA.

yup, at the cost of even buying a used tailgate if you can get one, might be better to file an insurance claim and get a new one

couldn't having the proper sized Torx socket defeat this by removing that one torx screw that holds the piece on? or am I missing something

Yeah, if you're carrying a torx screwdriver with you....

    It's an ounce of prevention....

criminals are smart these days, if one sees you have installed a torx screwed device than they will come back and get it another time with the torx set in hand and get it.
