    Hello,

I’m trying to decide on a new Tacoma. I have a lift question.

It looks like the 2019 Pro has a 1” lift over the others. I normally run Rough County items and they have 3 to pick from. A 2” spacer lift, a $300 3” lift kit that uses a front spacer but it must be thicker than the 2” spacer and a $500 3” lift kit that uses a N3 front shocks that does the lifting d/t the lower spring perch.

To me if the Pro has a 1” lift it’s because the lower spring perch is higher yet it should be lower in height than the $500 3” kit.

So to keep the Fox shocks I should just get the 2” spacer kit no? Rough County says I can’t do that, all the angles will be off. I don’t see why I can’t do the 2” spacer with the $300 3” kit. The kit has a spacer to drop the front diff so the axle is not so stressed.

    Any ideas or options?

    Thanks

I'm sure I'll get lots of hate from other members but, it's only the internet and that's what it's for . So other can fling Shet at others and hide behind their keyboards . So I Have a 2017 pro with Trailmaster 2 inch spacer lift on the front and I'm running 2 inch spacer blocks on the rear from a stock GMC also using the U bolts from the GMC because they looked better then the U bolts that came with the Trailmaster kit . The Trailmaster kit came with a 1" spacer for the rear but it was to low unless you like the Tennessee lean . I run Total Chaos UCA , spaced the rear brake lines up off the rear diff . I then have done the CMC to keep the 285/75/16 Dura-trac's from rubbing . Always remember it's your truck it's your money so do what you like and you don't have to make the haters happy ( because you can't )

Spacers on a PRO?! ...you dropped $40k+ on a truck and then skimp in stuff that could cause issues ...or even put you or significant others in danger (relatively speaking)...this logic Is quite interesting to say the least.

Just keep the damn thing stock and it will drive like a dream...almost of all that extra $$$ went to the PRO suspension anyways.

If you are going to put spacers on a pro, it sounds like your looking at the wrong vehicle. I believe you need to buy a ford

Who wants to keep a vehicle stock? Sure the Pro has nice suspension but it’s no where near tall enough or has large enough tires. I understand getting a OR or sport might be a better suspension way to go as far as aftermarkets concerned but why not get all the goodies, looks and resale value from the Pro to begin with?

So back to the OPs question, yes it will throw things off, but pretty much all lifts do that, spacer or longer springs. PERSONALLY, I feel rough country has fell off in quality over the years, but as long as you get an alinement done properly and possibly get some UCAs for the lift since it MAY be over 3 inches after the spacer you plan on putting on, it should be okay. Just please for the love of carebears don't put block spacers in the rear.

Actually, we went thru a similar dilemma.

Since my wife KNEW, and I did too, we passed on the pro.

Personally, I would get what you want and if you are already planning for modifications .... don’t spend the dough on the pro.

About the only decent performance upgrade the Pro has going for it is the Fox suspension. There’s no logical reason to buy one just to put a crappy lift on top of that suspension. Save a ton of money, buy an offroad and add aftermarket shocks/leaf packs designed to give a lift. Your wallet will thank you and the ride/performance will be much better.

Just put a 1 inch spacer on it and call it the day. That's not going to hurt anything, I'm sure your not going out and hammering this truck on the trails and rocks. Just do it and it you don't like it take off.

Well from what I’ve read I’d do a 1.5” lift and a added leaf in the back. I tow a lot and want next to no sag. I know a 1,000lbs load from online drops about 2” so a 1.5” leaf should tighten that up and keep that sag to a minimum.

I like the seats though, the grill, hood, protective plates. All money I don’t have to spend out of pocket unless the dealer wants to add all that in from the get go.

I told myself I was going to leave my Pro stock but I just can’t help myself. I Must Mod. I just can’t help it. If I did it over, I would get the Off Road with locker and crawl control instead of the Pro. Then use the money saved to get the suspension how I wanted it.
