Edit: poor choice of thread title.
    Edit #2:

Does 3 hours seem right for a professional 4x4 shop to swap out pre assembled coil overs?

I'm not sure why people think being a mechanic is a $6.00 an hour job. This isn't 1982 where the labor rate was $25 an hour.

    $105 an hour isn’t bad.

You have to pay book time, there is no buddy discount in business.

Do it yourself, or pay it yourself. :notsure:

I’m fine with the $105 rate. Just thought 2.88 hours for the front is a long amount time.

    The book dictates time.

It works the same whether it’s a lift install or a tire rotation.

That’s how the wrenched gets paid.

Most mechanics go to trade schools that cost a lot or a community college to learn to do things right. Nurses, dental workers charge a lot cause they went to school and gained knowledge, which your paying for. People dont give them BS for their pay rate as much as they do to mechanics. Honestly you might be better off having someone else help you or shop around for a cheaper quote

3 hours for all four corners seems right. Remember with the add a leaf they have to take the stock leafs apart, lube them, add the leaf, and then re-install.

If you don't like the price, do it yourself. Don't mean to be harsh, but they'll charge it if people pay it.

You tube is a great tool to become a DIY home mechanic! Also you can find help on just about anything you are working on using the search tool on TacomaWorld we have a great community of guys who are willing to share there knowledge! I have used both to do so many projects that i would normally pay someone to do!

$105 is cheap & the labor quoted is within reason. Don’t like it go somewhere else or do it yourself.

So frustrating that people think dealerships or even independents should work for little or nothing. It’s a business to make money. So let’s say I made the OP’s quote & did the work in half the time. Guess what that’s how I make money. I get paid a flat rate on every job I do. So if it takes less time yay for me, if more than well crap better luck next time. Is that screwing the customer? No because the manufacturer came up with the times not me. Granted customer pay work is usually bumped up a bit but even still it’s a fair time usually.

Swapping both fronts takes about an hour or less if you know what your doing. It’s really easy to just do it yourself if you have the space and tools

That’s what I thought. That’s why I was asking about the time quoted for a pro shop to do it.

It’s something I would recommend just doing yourself. It’s pretty straight forward and worth saving the $300
