2007 here, truck has lived in northern Utah for its entire life. The frame has rust but mostly on the welds and seams. Tested all over with a ball peen hammer and it is still solid. I do try to always wash the underside whenever I wash the truck but sometimes it doesn’t get washed for months.

My 2009 still has the original frame. It’s been in Cincinnati for it’s entire ten year life and while it’s definitely not pretty under there, it’s all just surface rust, no holes.

I’ve gotten to the point now where each spring, I jack it up and knock as much of the surface rust as I can off with a wire wheel then spray it with flat black Rust Reformer. I’ve done the hammer test on a few of the really rusted areas and it’s still hanging in there. I wish it looked as good as some of the underbodies I’ve seen posted here, but for ten years in the salt belt I’ve accepted that yearly maintenance is going to be required to keep my original frame in tact. That and I just don’t really have the time to go through the hassle of having a dealership inspect it and spray whatever it is they will on it when they don’t find enough rust to warrant a replacement.

My 05 DCSB TRD Sport has no rust, but its been in Georgia its whole life. I try to power wash the underside at least once a year in the spring, sometimes twice. Think I'm going to hit it with some FF for the first time this year.

I just bought a 2015 4 door Taco CPO December 2018. I believe it's the original frame. After this past winter with all the brine they've laid down in NJ on 50 degree days. I'd like a closer look once the weather gets consistently better. I've been going through the car wash once a week for a chassis wash.

My 2011 is original frame all it’s life in New England. Pretty rusty when I bought it but then I wire brushed and used rust reformer. There was no bad scaling, and now it looks pretty good.

Some basic matinence I see no reason it won’t be good for another 15 years.

I just did this to my entire frame and hitch yesterday. Those LCA's were pretty rough as well as all the metal that sits just above the rear skid plate. All surface rust though thankfully Will see how long the rust reformer lasts.

08 still original @ 160+. Was inspected & coated in '15 according to the Toyota Owners site. I've peeked under it, still looks pretty good. I'll get a chance to get it on a lift sometime in the future hopefully, and give it a good going over.

Your truck is a prime candidate for the ole fluid film treatment.

Considering the 15 is NOT applicable for the frame replacement (vin and assembly codes)

I am on the oem frame, still has Toyota assembly marks on it after 56k

2010. It's home was GA for around 6 years. Then my truck has spent almost 4 years in Ohio. Besides the normal rust around the leaf springs, overall she's holding up great. Never been fluid filmed etc.

05 truck Kansas truck. My frame was extremely bad. Several very bad spots where the main part of the frame rusted completely through. I can't find the before pictures right now but here is a picture of them doing the recall.

I’m a big fan of Rust Reformer. I sprayed the rear axle and diff, and several parts of the rear of the frame with it late last summer while I had my hitch off. The rear axle and diff look as good right now as they did the day I sprayed them.

I decided to coat the hitch with a thicker, textured rustoleum product and it did not hold up as well through this past winter. I doubt I’m going to take the bumper off again, but as soon as I get a warm, dry day, I’ll be hitting as much the hitch as I can with a wire wheel and spraying it (as well as the rest of the frame) with more Rust Reformer.

With all the problems these trucks are having with the frame, my OCD is starting to include keeping the underbody in as good of condition as I can moving forward.

My 08' still has the original frame (305xxx miles) but it failed inspection 25 days ago due to frame rust. Toyota sprayed the frame with CRC 3 years back when I received the first recall, the 2nd recall came about 8 months ago and Toyota reported after frame inspection it was still 'ok'. Inspection was due in February so I pressure washed the truck and undercarriage prior to. I'm thinking I pressure washed off most of the remaining CRC, which was MacGyvered on, exposing the frame.
I'm now waiting for the new frame install which will happen @ 45 days from today.

I would have had my original frame if I didn't get rear ended. I have a new frame now though, courtesy of state farm.
