The key is you don't want to remove the overflow until the transmission is between the specified temperature range.

You should have time... when I checked mine, I had the fill plug removed and a quart ready to go. When the transmission hit the lower temp, I crawled under and removed the overflow plug and started adding until I got a steady flow out of the overflow. Then put the overflow plug back in and the tranny was still withing the temperature range.

You should become an advocate. Like the people who run over their children, then blame the auto manufactures saying they should equipt the vehicles wth devices (back up cameras and sensors) to prevent this from happening.

I think you can use a WS trans fluid equivalent like Valvoline Maxlife at the local parts store, just read the back of the bottle it should tell you what types of fluid is compatable. you can also call the dealership maybe they can give you a free complimentary trans fluid check since a lot of the transmissions come under filled from the factory, just say your a little concerned about it being low. you feeling me dog;)

I'm all for the Fumoto Valve on the Oil pan...… I know it's on the OIL pan, not the other.

Plus it's very convienant for oil changes.....:thumbsup:

if you do it there are plenty of the WS compatable fluids available at the local parts store Valvoline Maxlife seems to be a well used one, just read the back of the bottle it will tell u if its compatable to use

best bet, don't tell them u accidently did anything, clean up good the trans pan so it looks like NADA, just say you've read online about low trans fluid levels and could they check it for your own peace of mind as a favor to u for being a good customer.

I suspect that if you take your Taco to a dealer and tell them you might have a problem based on something you read on the Internet, they may not take you too seriously...

That got me nowhere with my dealer. All they did was show me the procedure on their computer and say it's a couple of hours at $105.00/hr. I just said "OH, I thought the PDI was included it the price of a new truck. I guess I'll check it myself"

believe it or not all Toyota stealerships aren't created equal, id rather spend a few minutes on the telephone to talk to a few dealers service departments than try and do something that is as involved checking on your own, if u aint got the skills to do all that wire jumping and stuff.

Those valves as slow as frig and a waste of time. The beer will be warm before the last of the oil is out
