Hello, i am Michael from Louisville, Kentucky. I just bought an 05 the other day at toyota dealership in Cincinnati. It is 4 cyl, manual transmission, 4x4 with 85k miles. I hope i didn't over pay for this truck. It runs and drives very well. I am somewhat concerned at some of the rusted components underneath. The frame has been replaced though, as part of recall. What do you think? Are there any things that I should check or replace before I start driving every day. Thanks

I owned it for eight years. It was a solid truck. I posted a "new member" thread here, and talked about why I traded it .

They replaced the wheels on it, but I bet those are the Firestone Destination LE2s I put on it. Those things have less than 1500 miles on them, maybe even less than that.

That truck was well taken care of. If you find any wavy white or grey hairs, they're from my huskies, lol.

The frame was replaced at Joseph in September 2018.

That truck looks darn clean for the year. Welcome to TW!! The frame looks new to me or white glove cleaning.

Truck looks good. I have an 05 as well and its given me no problems except for wheel bearings. If the previous owner took care of it which he said he did just check for the recalls

Welcome! and also have a 2005 Tacoma myself, V6 Double Cab. I bought it with 170K on it and have since put over 20K miles on it with just the typical tacoma maintenance. Replaced the front wheel bearings, refreshed the cooling system and had to replace an alternator. Only thing I could say is check your belts and idler pulleys on the engine. Also can't hurt to replace the differential oil (front and back) and to also grease up the driveshaft if the dealer already didn't do so prior to selling it.

    Best of luck!
