Does the Kenwood head unit have Amazon music built into head unit or is it coming from your phone via bluetooth?

 

Nice build, how does the head unit pull the tire pressure readings?

Coming from my phone via USB. I bought mine before Wireless Android Auto was a thing.....

 

It is tied into the ODBII. It pulls all gauges from the Truck, and is configurable.

I got a question for you.i like the 8 inch screen from joying.they should have the same connections that your unit has right?I would like to keep all my funtions..wheels controls,subs,both amps,navigation,xmas radio...ect..

 

I know I'm a bit late to this conversation, but what did you do with the mic for bluetooth? Where did you place the new microphone? I know you can't use the factory mic with replacement HU even with the maestro.

 

It is run to the driver side A-Pillar. I'll post a picture later.

 

I installed my mic just to the left of the rearview mirror in the headliner. You just run the wire up the A Pilar, stuff it up into the headliner and hook it somewhere on the headliner.

 

How is the picture for the backup camera? Is it as good as the factory head unit? Is there a persistent warning on the screen? When you put the car in reverse, does it take a long time for the camera to turn on?

 

It is the exact same picture, however the Kenwood unit adds lines that move when you turn the wheel making it better. It is instant when you go into reverse. Also you can turn it on anytime you want, which is very convenient when pulling into a garage and making sure you are in enough to close the door.

I put the pioneer 4200 in mine. I like it, but the backup camera is a significant step down from factory. I think I will put a kenwood in soon.

Great build. I like the work you put into it for the clean factory look. I have been reading through the 3rd gen threads looking for ones taking everything out. I was curious what the people you call think of the feedback they hear (if any) based on that mic location? I noticed you replaced everything. I have a few other questions as well if you don't mind answering. You are basically doing everything I want to do and I am trying to learn.

Did you order from Crutchfield? If you did do you use their wiring harness they will provide to get the maestroRR and the truck connections into the kenwood deck?
When you get a call on the truck does the person calling only come through on the left front speaker or both front speakers? The main problem I have with the JBL in my 2018 is that I have to turn up the volume to 42-50 (max) to hear anyone driving and it only comes out on the front left side of the truck. They also hear themselves which makes it completely useless.

Did you also run new speaker wire to everything?

 

People claim I sound just fine. I do have to turn the audio up and down depending on the call. It plays out of both speakers. Order thru a local shop. Did a lot of research into what I needes to keep everything stock looking. New speaker wire was run to everything. I listed all the harnesses I used, that should be everything you need to connect the truck to the Kenwood Receiver. If you have any other questions let me know. I am a year into the install and I am still very happy with the setup. I am blown away at how well these little Sound Digital amps work.

 

Does your setup connect the 2 tweeters in the dash as well as the front and rear door speakers?

I have done the full install...maestro..deck...front..rear...tweeter replacements...amp...speedwire...all the hard stuff. I now want to finish up with a sub that i thought i was too old for..but i knew once i made everything else sound great id miss the low end..and i do..i just dont want to spend so much on the Stealthbox..I just want the measurements and ill build it myself.
Sorry, to answer your question..yes..the setup does connect the tweeters. Since Toyota wired the tweeters inline with the woofer. Once coming off an amplifier, I decided to go to..shhhh...taco tunes.....but it was because they were the only once i found that made a harness for specifically our setup. Sends the input down to the crossover and back up to the tweeters without cutting wires. For the tweeters I used the Subaru drop in kickers at first, but when i did the full install i made mounts from 1/8" ABS plastic. Just used the factory tweeters to draw a template out on cardboard.
