My 08' still has the original frame (305xxx miles) but it failed inspection 25 days ago due to frame rust. Toyota sprayed the frame with CRC 3 years back when I received the first recall, the 2nd recall came about 8 months ago and Toyota reported after frame inspection it was still 'ok'. Inspection was due in February so I pressure washed the truck and undercarriage prior to. I'm thinking I pressure washed off most of the remaining CRC, which was MacGyvered on, exposing the frame.
I'm now waiting for the new frame install which will happen @ 45 days from today.

I would have had my original frame if I didn't get rear ended. I have a new frame now though, courtesy of state farm.

Now to find a wire cup/wheel that doesn't disintegrate all over the driveway and leave little pieces of metal all over to stab into me when I fall off the creeper while trying to get all the rust off the welds. My neighbors must get a good laugh when I use my HF magnet trays stuck to the end of my driveway scraper to walk back and forth looking like an idiot with a makeshift metal detector. But hey, no more rust, so I dont care .

Mine is a 2009 Access cab. Frame was inspected by the dealer in January 2018 and it passed. They sprayed with “black stuff” and Toyota extended the warranty to 12 years, so I think I am okay.

'06 DCSB... bought new in December '06. Lived in Georgia since new... 262,000 miles, NO rust on the frame, and I've never even thought about washing the frame.

'15 DCSB... Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee... been in Georgia for a year... NO rust on the frame on this one, either.

Hey y'all I have 05 Tacoma 4x4 on original frame. Passed all inspection tests. Atleast you guys got the anticorrotion spray. They didnt even do that here so pissed at the lack of care and concern by the dealerships. It is pathetic really. So if I want the frame to last longer it is up to me to do frame off frame restoration so dumb....

Toyota does not remove the existing rust prior to applying the CRC. It continues to rust, once I pressure washed the frame it exposed the ongoing problem.
The ‘anti corrosion spray’ as you put it does NOTHING!

Early '05 here and no real frame rust, some surface rust on the control arms, some of the welds and seams though. It spent it's first year in Ohio, IIRC, but it's been down here the rest of the time other than traveling. Now under the hood is a different story, most of the aluminum and the engine has oxidation on it. Lots of the bolts throughout, including the seat bolt heads, have some rust as well. It's passed Toyota's inspection, including motor mounts, and Toyota did not spray anything on it. I spray chassis black on it periodically and any bolt that gets removed gets anti-seize.

My 2010 has been in Maryland (rust state) it's whole life since I purchased it new, and it does not appear to be rusty. I did have Toyota put the CRC on it, and for the past year or two I've been putting Fluid Film on it regularly. I hope it lasts forever!

I guess I should get it inspected soon, I think the extended warranty on the frame expires this year.
