Are you assembling the springs/shocks yourself? just wanted to mention, I planned on doing it myself, I have two types of spring compressors, I fiddled around with the springs for about 2 hours, then finally went to a local shop, had them dis-assemble them and assemble the falcon shocks with the springs. took them a total of about 20 minutes (and $40), took them home and mounted, had everything in the front assembled and torqued in about 45 minutes. It was a life saver going to the shop with their wall mounted spring compressor. I have done other shock installs, on a 2004 tacoma, 2007 Tacoma, but really had a hard time with these springs, they are tighter in between the coils and had a hard time with my tools. Just wanted to mention that.

I was thinking about doing it myself, but I decided to let the shop I ordered them through do it and the alignment. Did you stick with the OEM upper control arm?

I did, and I am happy I didn’t spend the money. It rides great. Don’t think I really needed to upgrade yet.

Love my suspension so far!! Got new wheel and tires mounted, these have a -7 offset, and works well with the rear shocks.

Looks like I’ll be needing tires in the next month or so and I want to go with 285s. I’m on the fence about going with the 1” spacer in the rear. Has anyone changed out their leaf pack in the rear on these who’s gone up to 285? Also curious about anyone running the 1” rear spacer, any feedback there?

Side note - have had these shocks on lots of trails and BLM. Cruises through it all. Very happy with these shocks.

I don't have Falcons, but am getting ready to have them installed in the next two months and I Am going to 285's as well. According to the guy at http://dasmule.com , for what I'm looking at doing, he suggested the Falcon's over an OME or Bilstein set-up. I asked him about issues with a 1" block in the rear versus an AAL and he said unless I was hauling around 400lbs of gear all the time, I would be fine, especially if I went with the Tow Haul version since I plan on putting a RTT on.

Prior to ordering and installing mine, I had a lengthy conversation with Falcon, they really know their stuff. I got in touch with them from their website.

I just put my Falcon suspension on a couple of weeks ago, and they are stiffer than I expected. I hope there will be a little break-in time, as I know they take big hits really well just from my crappy local roads. It's the little stuff that I hope softens out a little over time. Wheels are 17x8.5, 0 offset. Falcons are 1.25" lift height set to the highest setting in the front and the lift block added in the rear. Tire size is 275/70/17. No rubbing, aligned fine with factory UCA's. Very happy with acceleration, don't really care about gas mileage, but I know it's suffering a bit. Cruises fine on the freeway.

@4biker , I'm guessing from your plate that you're in Utah somewhere. What shop did you have do the install and such?
I'm up in SL County and am contemplating this upgrade sometime this year.

Looks great, I think i will take mine in and raise the front to top notch. Looking at yours and others, I like the stance. but that may be some of the reason it is stiff up front. Also, I have a shell and bedrug, not a huge amount of weight, but I ran mine on soft, then firm, then settled in middle on rear. I think it is running and feels better at middle setting in rear.

Nice sleuthing! I'm down in Utah County. I called falcon and they recommended Northridge 4x4 out on west 2100 south. They took good care of me (AJ is the manager and he took it very personally to make sure I was taken care of). They are primarily a Jeep shop, and have absolutely no Toyota products on their website. They didn't even know they had a kit in stock when I called, but it was in the warehouse. They are very fond of Falcon because of their Jeep line, and did a great job on the install, and he got my wheels (they carry Method) and tires as well so I could do it all right there.

Thanks! I really like the look.

Yeah, I assumed the highest setting would affect ride quality, but with the rear lifted, I didn't want to have the stinkbug look. When I put my RTT on this week I'll play with the middle setting to see if that changes anything. Thanks for the tip on that. I'm more concerned with the rears jarring when hitting a dip or bump, more so than the fronts anyway.

Thanks for the input. I'm really hoping more Taco owners get these shocks and provide more feedback until I have enough $$$ to buy these. Do you know if they had to drill or cut anything away to install these shocks? Teraflex told me that it's only need if using stock OEM wheels.

So you set the preload to the max and was expecting a soft ride?
I love the ride of the stock OR

Look at post 258 above. The setting on the fronts has little to do with the rears.
I'm glad you like the stock shocks, but I don't.

Yes, there is drilling involved for the 3rd gens, but only to enlarge the hole on the upper shock mount. The 2nd gens don't require that drilling apparently. The only cutting required is if you have stock wheels or stock offset, there is a relocation bracket and you have to cut the rear shock mount bucket so the shocks fit closer to the frame, and the tires don't rub on the shocks.

I ran mine stock for a while, when I decided on these for a little lift, was expecting a little stiffer ride, and I got it, but over most terrain, this is a huge improvement, keeps the tires on the ground in the washboards and such. Much less lean in corners, overall these are a huge improvement.

Settings in front has nothing to do with rears, it is for ride height and if you have a heavy bumper. middle setting with the 1.25" block in rear is intended to be level, talking to falcon, without load.

with my load in rear, I set to middle and still have a little rake to front. I think i will raise to upper limit and see how it looks.
