I have been a Ford man for a long time, however, I have Always loved Toyotas. My dad had an 87 2wd single cab and between he and I we put 354,000 miles on it. I learned to drive on it AND it was a manual so I also learned to drive a stick on it. Only a starter and alternator ever needed changed.
So, seeing that they last forever I am interested in trading my 2011 Ford on 35s for a Tacoma. They are a little small but I fit with 1” headroom. I would like a moonroof but my head hits the top in those. I fit MUCH better in a Tundra, but they dont make as many mods for them. I’m interested in Overlanding with my family.
ANY and ALL advice would be appreciated and listened to. Tacoma or Tundra? Good engines/ bad engines? Best mods? Etc etc etc.....I’m teachable.

    Welcome to TacomaWorld!

I would definitely recommend a LONG test drive to make sure it is right for you. If it fits, they are awesome trucks!

Welcome! Test them out a bit and see what you think. I definitely recommend driving both a 2nd gen & a 3rd gen to see which you prefer. Both have pros & cons. I love my 3rd gen, but if I could go back to before I sold my 2nd gen I would.

Welcome! Although most of us are partial to the Tacoma, the tundra is pretty capable as an overlanding rig on it's own, with more room for the family. Each has its strengths and downsides.

    Test them both out!

Well, if you are rich or just have to have a fake hood scoop, sure the Pro works! ;)

Welcome to TW I traded my F-250 for the Tacoma and am very satisfied. I no longer needed the big truck to pull my RV since now I have a Class C. I am 6' and have no problem with fitting into the Tacoma but what ever works for you is best. I do like the fact that the Tacoma goes to bed in the garage since she can fit.

Before the current Tacoma, I had a Dodge 2500 quad cab long bed 4wd. Like driving around in a school bus it was so big. I'm 6'-4", 235, and 61 years old. I'd rather drive the Tacoma than have 10 full size trucks. MUCHG prefer driving a smaller vehicle. YMMV. I'd make sure BEFORE you buy though.
