Been hibernating all winter! Haven’t been up on here for a minute. Back in the game though and we built spare tire carrier Over the weekend for my ALL POO rear bumper. Still some things to add but it worked out pretty good overall :) DA853FF5-8999-48E2-B981-D584745A5BB8.jpgD2DD4761-54CC-4217-9129-E1C3BD3B97AA.jpg

Replaced the door handle and the plastic vapor barrier on the drivers side door. Previous owner (or someone he took the truck to) ripped open the plastic and left it hanging. The black adhesive was sticking to the window every time I rolled it down...

Take a hammer with you and bang on it. They rust from the inside, so it's not always real visible.

Hoping I can get away with 91 octane in the mile high city (Denver). They don’t sell anything higher than that at most gas stations .

High elevation. You’re fine. You shouldn’t have any issues with ping at all from what I’ve seem. At sea level ping can be a pain on some trucks. My truck likes to ping. So I had to pull more timing than the stock tune came with. I don’t ping much at all anymore.

I had one break at the handle (part that you grab) and then 3 or 4 break on the inside of the handle that you can only see when you take it off (where the lip of the handle engages the door rod mechanism). That part is fragile on the OEM handles

You'll be fine with 91...most of us here on the West coast can only run that (highest octane we get). I've driven my truck up at 8k ft and higher countless times on 91 and it runs great at that elevation...better than it does closer to sea level that's for sure

    JBA header install update

Removing stock manifolds was not to bad. Didn’t want to remove stock studs out of fear, so I didn’t on the passage side. Passages header seems to fit fine on the stock studs. Driver side however would not go on without removing 2 top and 1 bottom stud. I bought some new locking nuts to put on the stock studs in all but two spots. I don’t have faith in the lock washers provided by JBA withstanding the test of time. Lining up Y pipe was a pain. Put the cross pipe in before you put in the Driver side header.

Get everything in place and lined up so I can weld the cat to the y pipe. I will mark the y pipe for welding and then remove it to weld.

Fortunately, the second cat and exhaust are on rubber mounts and have some give.

You have to cut the O2 sensor off the first cat. I cut it as close to the O2 sensors as possible to give myself plenty Off extra metal to work with.

I will update again next weekend

Wow, that looks super close to the frame. How close it’s it actually?

And the flange that is right on top of the passenger side is close to when I mocked it up. Does it touch?

Not touching anywhere. It comes pretty close in several places . As close as 1/4 inch. May take some extra precautions with some extra heat shield.

I have not tightened everything down yet. I’ll follow up next weekend with more details .

Any idea why it's not as prone to detonation at higher elevation? I would think the blower would have to work harder, more heat, to build the same amount of pressure compared to sea level.

air is less dense. It can’t compress less dense air as well as dense sea level air.

The supercharger only turns as fast as the pulley lets it. Supercharger doesn’t know what elevation you are nor can it try to hit a boost level it just wants to. It’s the pulley that dictates how fast it’s turning those rotors. The more resistance or restrictions you have the more boost it will have.

Take the same setup and delete the cats, add headers, straight through muffler and the boost level will drop. But the power is still there. Less boost means less heat.

I’m not an expert but I think that’s close enough.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Pressure and density are not directly related. With the lesser quantity of oxygen molecules in the air a greater pressure can only cram in so many per PSI, the rest is just as useless as the rest of the air on NA.
