So I purchased the HS billy lift with 888 coils, HS AAL in the rear.

I’ve searched all the forums I can think of and I can’t find anyone running the 888’s w/ Billy’s set at 2nd notch (.65) I’m looking to run 295/75r16’s which are slightly bigger than what I’m seeing most of the dudes on here running with a similar 3” lift.

After settling the HS lift will give me 2.75 upfront (set at zero) if set at .65 notch I’ll get around 3.5 after settling. I know I’ll have to trim/CMC regardless but I’d like to keep it to a minimum- will preloading the springs at just the first notch (.65) be dangerous as far as coil bind if I don’t really do serious off roading? Secondly, how would this impact the ride quality?

I’m stuck between keeping it at it’s set height and losing the factory overload vs taking it up a notch and keeping the factor OL in.

biggest issue I see are your cvs. I have a buddy that did this to fit 315s, and he has had nothing but problems. he went all the way up to the 4th notch. not only will it be hard on your cvs, but his ride sucks, he trashed a front fender flare the other day offroading as well.

I bought a diff drop kit I will be installing with lift. Hopefully that’ll help.

I’ve read on some forums here it’s not recommended to go ove the 2nd notch (.65) if you plan to off road and right now living in Maryland. I wonder how much the ride quality will vary between those two settings.

I actually have mine on the 2nd notch right now with the 887s. mainly did it to see what ride height would be. it rides fine. feel the little bumps and cracks on the road more, but it don't ride shitty

I installed the diff drop too and at the 2nd setting the boot isn't rubbing so I would assume it's ok

You’re a legend bro, I think I’m going to run it at the second setting.

I didn’t think you needed to set them at a notch other than the factory notch with the coils? I’m doing the same set up as you & that’s what I’ve been told

You’re correct. You do not HAVE to run the coils set to above 0 to achieve lift, this kit (as assembled by HS) uses the coils to achieve lift. Depending on which coil you chose-I chose 888’s is how much lift you will get for the trim of your truck. I have a double cab so after settling it will be aprox 2.75” of lift.

My concern is that I am running tires that are larger than what I’ve seen anyone else running with that set up. 295/65r16vs 285/75r16 and I understand that lift alone will not help fit the wheel, there are many different factors ie back spacing/offset but it’s guys running 285’s are already doing trimming I’m wondering if that extra .65 would help me out and minimize what I’ll have to cut.

    Mine if this helps:
It has settled a bit over 1,000 miles. I didn’t rub at first but now I rub a little bit sometimes hitting inclines at an angle at speed. Haven’t noticed any obvious signs of where it rubbed yet. Either cab mount or plastic I am guessing. Probably the cab mount...

    Beautiful rig bro.

    What offset are those wheels?

Secondly, I’m not sure if you’ve seen 295/75r16’s but in your opinion do you think I could fit those with that same setup? Of course I’d loose a bit of uptravel but I don’t off road too much. Getting lift installed tommrow and I’m stressing, lol

Do you think the extended brake lines are necessary with dakars?
And are you running the extended length 5100 rears?
    Thanks
    Sick long box

Hey bro,did you end up bumping your 5100’s and 888’s up to to the 2nd notch? I’m considering doing the same.
