Wow nobody said anything about Gronk retiring? To me that is pretty big news. Now is everyone's chance to say how much NE is going to suck this year (our QB is soo old, no targets) or that we'll just have to find a new way to cheat to make it or something.

His retiring is smart in this age of CTE. Considering the way he and his brothers roughhoused at home, he was 3 concussions in to an NFL career before he left high school.

Plus repeated back, arm, knee, and ankle injuries since he got to the NFL. But hell, he's got 3 Super Bowl rings and millions of dollars in the bank, at 29. I'd retire too

I'm sure Kraft's will find a way for some kind of happy ending.

Yeah, he'd be in a wheelchair or worse by 35 otherwise.

Loved the player when he was on the field. Part of me will never forgive him for Super Bowl XLVI..could barely play on a bum ankle but had no issue dancing around like a drunken fool after the game.

The Alliance of American Football League is suspending football operations as of 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to a person familiar with majority investor Tom Dundon’s plans. The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the development.

Pro Football Talk and The Action Network were the first to report the news.

The AAF was entering Week 9 of the 10-week regular season.

"I am extremely disappointed to learn Tom Dundon has decided to suspend all football operations of the Alliance of American Football," AAF co-founder Bill Polian said in a statement Tuesday, according to ESPN. "When Mr. Dundon took over, it was the belief of my co-founder, Charlie Ebersol, and myself that we would finish the season, pay our creditors, and make the necessary adjustments to move forward in a manner that made economic sense for all.

"The momentum generated by our players, coaches and football staff had us well positioned for future success. Regrettably, we will not have that opportunity."

Dundon, the owner of the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, made the decision to suspend operations amid an inability to reach an agreement with the NFL Players Association to use younger NFL players in the AAF. He pledged a $250 million investment after the opening week of the season.

Damn, I heard it was doing well too.

Hadn't gotten a chance to watch any of the games though.

I never saw any on the guide even when I was looking for them. Hard to watch the games out of market if no one’s showing them.

NFL network showed just about all the games on replay.

The gameplay was actually pretty good in my opinion... it sucks but I kind of saw this happening. The XFL will probably suffer the same fate.

Me neither. I'm so tuned the NFL season, it's hard to watch football at another time.

Ive gotten out of NFL football in the past couple of years, but the headline of gronk denting the lombardi trophy while using it as a baseball bat is the best NFL headline I have seen in years. Amazing
