My gurus.. got a new one for you.

Found a brake line leak in the 90-degree hard line connector below my reservoir. Last weekend I installed the rear extended brake lines and bleed my brakes. This weekend new coilovers, UCA, and CV axle. Last I saw the res was last weekend and was topped off after bleeding brakes. Today after noticing the leak it was 1/2 full. Not sure if it happened during one of the installs above or is a coincidence. I took my flare wrench and tightened them down (weren't loose though) and topped it off again to just below max. I will monitor 2x a day to see how fast the leak is . . Thoughts? Is there a seal in there I could of blown when bleeding the brakes (pump pump hold turn bleeder valve method).

 

Those are usually just 90* connectors, no seals inside. It attached to the bracket to keep stationary.

Spray that area down with brake clean to make sure where/which side is leaking. Undo it and and check the flaring.
If it was a air system I'd say use teflon tap or brush on to seal it also. Not sure you would want to use that stuff on a fluid situation. I have though on hydraulic lines.

I will figure out how to check it and will do so. Not sure how to check the flare. I have never touched that flare nut until today after finding the leak. Used flare wrench to tighten it.

Did more thinking. Obviously you had to move the bolt down section while doing the UCA.
Not too often when dealing with hydraulic lines like that, just the pressure of moving out of the way and putting back in will create them to have a leak, usually the tube bends at the tight down nut it slides in. Usually best just to replace that line if that's where it is leaking, again, break clean that whole area to confirm.

 

Thank you. If so it's a fast leak. 1/4 res loss a day. Looks like I got more work to do and just promised the wifey I would leave it alone for a while.

 

Spotted this in Berkeley serving coffee outside Sports Basement.

 

Checked at full drop and it was slightly rubbing. Quickly realized I just had to loosen the hose clamps and turn the res in a little to move the hose away and now got an inch clearance. Thanks.
